There are just 10 days to go until Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is released in theaters, and Rotten Tomatoes has now confirmed that the second Phase 4 movie from Marvel Studios is "Certified Fresh."
We expected that would be the case, and with 91 reviews counted, it has an impressive 92% score.
It's inevitable that more verdicts will be counted between now and September 3, while further reviews are sure to follow during that opening weekend. As a result, this score could go up or down, but it's hard to imagine Shang-Chi heading down the Wonder Woman 1984 route by losing its "Certified Fresh" status!
A Critics Consensus has also been revealed, which reads: "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings isn't entirely free of Marvel's familiar formula, but this exciting origin story expands the MCU in more ways than one."
For fans of the MCU, that formula works, and we're not sure what some critics expect. After all, it would be very strange for any action blockbuster to conclude without a massive final battle (that seems to be the main complaint about Marvel Studios movies these days), and even weirder for a comic book movie of this scale to go out with a whimper rather than a bang.
