Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' mid-credits scene features the titular hero and Katy talking to Wong, Bruce Banner, and Captain Marvel about the origins of the Ten Rings and the fact that they've sent a beacon out to...something. We'll have more to share with you on that last point soon, but it's now clear that Shang-Chi looks set to be part of the next iteration of The Avengers.
Entertainment Tonight caught up with Simu Liu to discuss the scene, but he's either being kept in the dark or is just really good at keeping Marvel Studios' secrets!
"I don't know anything about anything," the actor claims, "and whether or not there's a post-credit sequence, that's up to fans to discover for themselves when they watch the movie in theaters on September 3." He did, however, acknowledge that there is a scene, but wasn't willing to divulge any more.
"Whether there's any future plans for Shang-Chi, if and when that happens, I would be extremely excited and will await that call with great enthusiasm," he teased.
Awkwafina, meanwhile, was similarly tight-lipped. "Oh, you're really going there, girl. It's so super locked down," she responded. "Let's just say...I mean...aw man, ET! I don't really know what's comfortable to say about that, but I will say that there are a lot of really cool kind of little things that happen in there that are very telling of maybe what's to come."
"I think there's a whole life of arts and crafts ahead for Katy and Shang-Chi," the actress joked. "I think they could open their own pottery shop in the Berkshires."
We're sure that the movie's cast and creative team will share more on both post-credits scene in the coming weeks, but both Shang-Chi and Katy look set to be a big part of the MCU moving forward. As of right now, Marvel Studios has yet to reveal whether we're getting a sequel or if the heroes will return elsewhere. However, we know from the second stinger that the Ten Rings will return!
