No Shazam!?

No Shazam!?

We wont hear the words "Shazam!" at the bigscreen anytime soon...

According to IGN, after the change of power at Warner Bros. later this year there has been a lot of question about what Jeff Robinov will do next. DC Comicbook movies will continue in a greatly growing scale but no World's Mightiest Mortal is coming out soon.

The Wrap said "the long-gestating comic book adaptation Shazam! is said to be pretty much dead at the moment."
So whats coming next? Robinov has made it clear that he plans on producing quite fewer movies but more tentpoles, including "one or two" DC Comics properties per year. DC boss Diane Nelson is ready to tackle this.

Now we know that The Dark Knight Rises is coming and Superman Returns "Returns"- reboot is also starting to close in(finally!). We know for a fact that Warner Bros/DC is going all out on Green Lantern which is coming out next year, which will blow us all away! Its gonna be emerald green next year people!!
We know that The Flash is finally running the right direction but curiously the site comments on Wonder Woman; "which the studio is also looking to crack development on" seemingly unknowing that a tv series is in the development stages. Something I would say is not a good idea. After the dreadful and horrible show Smallville, we dont need anymore of the nasty illegal assault on the infamous heroes of DC.

All in all we are getting more DC comicbook movies but not Captain Marvel, and its not entirely clear which ones are up next after the true icons of the comicbook world.

Dude, kinda sucks lol!

We need a SHAZAM movie!

Rather find out from WB... still saying that, WB turns this on and off all the time like a tap, just like WW and FLASH!

I do agree with the both of you. A Shazam! movie would be great but I think WB believe the character to be too similiar to Superman maybe, thats why they are keeping Captain M on a leash accordingly, maybe! But at least we will see more comicbook movies being made! We will see the World's Mightiest Mortal one time soon!

Angelus @ Yeah, its a shame New Line/WB hasn't done anything with it... real shame... I mean if they popped one out now, later on we could've maybe seen a SUPERMAN VS SHAZAM! live-action crossover!!!

Everybody would've gone to see that!

@ P862010 - Well, Jonah Hex cant really be compared to Captain Marvel. Its like comparing Thor to Superman(oh nooooo he didnt!), its crazy. Captain Marvel is beyond Jonah Hex. But sure, the movie didnt help and I am happy to say I havent watched it.

they need to do Superman right before they can tackle Capt. Marvel.

I take it then that all the other planned films with lower-key DC characters are dead as well? No Deadman or Lobo or Doom Patrol?

I don't know a lot about Shazam/Captain Marvel.I do remember him from when I was little,so I don't really know his story.Other than the new animated short,I have no clue.I always thought he was a cool looking character. If they did do one, they could have Snyder do it,and I think it would look pretty awesome if it was in the same vain as 300 & Sucker Punch.I think visually it would look pretty awesome.I think it would be an awesome movie,it might not make a lot box office wise, kinda like Watchmen. It's only geared towards a certain audience, mainly only people who know who he is.I didn't know anything about Watchmen before it came it,but when I seen the previews for it,I was pumped, and I love it.DC needs to make some frakkin movies already.I'm tired of waiting, the end of the world will be here before we get to see anything. We might get lucky and see Superman before the world ends.
