Shazam! Fury of the Gods has had a rough time of it since being released in theaters last month, and one eagle-eyed fan has now spotted a major continuity error relating to Gal Gadot's return as Wonder Woman!

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is now available on Digital platforms, and that means DC Comics fans have been given the opportunity to look through the sequel with a fine-tooth comb.

In terms of Easter Eggs, the Shazam! follow-up is somewhat lacking, no massive shock given the DCEU's lack of connectivity in recent years. It appears efforts were also made to ensure the franchise could be folded into DC Studios' DCU should James Gunn and Peter Safran choose to do so, though that seems doubtful after the movie's dismal critical and commercial performance.

There was no cutting Gal Gadot's Diana Prince (even after Wonder Woman 3 fell apart), and along with that memorable cameo appearance, she appears on various newspaper clippings.

However, it's been pointed out that those are recycled stills from 2017's Wonder Woman, creating something of a strange continuity error. After all, that's a shot of the hero way back in 1917 when the world didn't know of her existence...the quality and composition similarly make no sense, especially as Diana was stepping out into No Man's Land.

Does this really matter? Probably not. Movies often reuse stills or publicity shots, but for anyone that pays attention, it's often considered a lazy approach to set dressing that stands out like a sore thumb.

In Shazam! Fury of the Gods' case, this was in the background of a scene and is something that's only now been picked up on. Still, it's not a great example of attention to detail in a genre where fans are constantly on the lookout for Easter Eggs, references, and mistakes.

As noted, the movie flopped and is expected to bring an end to Zachary Levi's time as the Big Red Cheese unless he gets another shot in the DCU much further down the line.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods arrived on Digital earlier this month. The sequel will then hit 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD on Tuesday, May 23.

We're way past the point of being surprised by WB doing something incongruous.

New site design, same old pointless Josh articles.

Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way…

“ Military photographers were the only professional photographers consistently allowed to work on the front line in 1914 and 1915.”

@TyrantBossMedia - A worse design, maybe to match the "quality" of Josh's articles.

In The Wolverine, Yukio has a photo from X-Men: The Last Stand of Wolverine and Professor X outside Jean's parents' house. Highly unlikely that a photographer was there. Even more unlikely though, she also has one of Wolverine and Storm at Alkali Lake from the scene where they found Jean unconcious. Pretty sure there was nobody there.

This is made even more ridiculous when you consider the whole plot of BvS was her trying to retrieve a photograph of herself from WWI.

I mean, at this point - trying to apply any form of logic and continuity to the DCEU is like chewing gum whilst in a rocking chair. It's something to do but it ain'y gonna get you anywhere.

Really that’s the continuity error your just now picking up on. How about in Batman vs superman the established history is that Wonder Woman has chosen not to be know for over a hundred years yet Warner brothers and dc producer film makers decide to make a sequel established in the 1980s with her running around as a hero. The DCEU is riddled with inconsistencies and that’s why it needs to be wiped cleaned and start fresh with including non of the current actors playing the same characters. Momoa as lobo going forward but not as aquaman for an example. Hell you could even do a proper batman beyond (I’m looking at you batgirl) with Michael Keaton but in his universe not the new DCU.
