Joel Cohen and Alec Sokolow (Cheaper by the Dozen) have been given the nod to write the Shazam! movie replacing William Goldsman, according to Hollywood Reporter.
Here’s how the trade describes the film: "Shazam!" is the story of mild-mannered Billy Batson, a boy who becomes Captain Marvel, the world's mightiest mortal, when he says the magic word "Shazam!" The name is an acronym for six gods and heroes of the ancient world as well as their attributes: the wisdom of Solomon, strength of Hercules, stamina of Atlas, power of Zeus, courage of Achilles and speed of Mercury. The DC comic ran in the 1970s and was actually a revival of the 1940s Fawcett Comics strip.
