Warner Bros. has only one DC Comics movie on the way in 2018 and that's Aquaman. The studio is looking to change that in 2019 with the release of Shazam and Suicide Squad 2 along with a number of other rumoured (and long overdue) titles. Right now, though, Shazam is definitely the most intriguing and Zachary Levi has revealed in a new interview why he expects the movie to exceed expectations.
"James Gunn and the gang killed it," the actor said in regards to Guardians of the Galaxy. "It brought so much heart and humor and yeah, I think it was kind of like this dark horse that took everybody by storm and I think Shazam kind of has the possibility to do that because Shazam’s not, for all intents and purposes, not Supes it’s not Batman, it’s not Wonder Woman, it’s not what people [expect.]"
By bringing magic into the DC Films Universe, this will obviously be a very different sort of superhero movie and the entire concept of a child who can transform into a powerful being like Shazam is definitely as unique as Guardians of the Galaxy when those characters were brought into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
