Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse included a huge number of cameos both from comic book and cartoon versions of the wall-crawler.
Unfortunately, there was no sign of live-action Spideys like the Tobey Maguire Peter Parker from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies, Andrew Garfield's angsty hero from The Amazing Spider-Man, or the MCU's web-slinger played by Tom Holland. Now, co-director Rodney Rothman has revealed that they were going to be included at one point!
"I wrote a scene that had every, that had Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire in the same scene and... I don't want to get into it but I did write that scene, but there's a lot of anxiety, there's a lot of anxiety around the movie generally and there was anxiety about confusing people."
That's a shame, but after the success of Into the Spider-Verse, the studio and filmmakers will no doubt be confident enough to include these versions of the hero without worrying about moviegoers not understanding what's happening (which seems like a poor excuse anyway).
Are you disappointed that we didn't see these live-action Spideys in the animated adventure?

The Comic Code Authority
An unexpected but still very cool Easter Egg, the Comic Code Authority (which has been defunct since it was finally abandoned by DC and Archie Comics in 2011) logo appears right at the very start.
Why? To tell us that Into the Spider-Verse has been "approved" by them and seeing as it was an issue of Amazing Spider-Man that first went against the rules set down by them, it's good to see that the wall-crawler is back on the straight and narrow! Seeing as this is such a comic book-y movie, it seems appropriate to include this here and is definitely a nice nod to the history of Marvel Comics.
