SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME - Every Character Confirmed And Rumored To Appear In The Sequel

With set photos revealing even more familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we're now taking a look at all the major confirmed and rumoured characters set to make an appearance in the sequel...

There's a lot of mystery surrounding Spider-Man: Far From Home right now (and not just relating to how Marvel Studios ended up choosing such a rubbish title). For starters, we don't really know whether it will be set before or after the events of Avengers 4 and with Mysterio named the sequel's lead villain, it seems somewhat appropriate that we're being kept in the dark for the time being.

However, while plot details might be scarce, a long list of characters have been confirmed to appear in the sequel and there's an almost equally as
lengthy list of those now rumoured to be showing up.

In both of them are new and familiar faces, with many hailing from Spider-Man's world and the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe. Iron Man may have made his presence felt in Spider-Man: Homecoming but these characters could very well outshine him so to see the full list, click on the "View List" button.

Happy Hogan - Confirmed

Peter Parker earned the respect of Happy Hogan in Spider-Man: Homecoming so it probably shouldn't come as a huge surprise that Tony Stark's head of security will be making his return here. We don't know what exactly he'll be getting up to in the movie but set photos have confirmed that he'll cross paths with Nick Fury and Maria Hill, so it could be that he's keeping a close eye on the wall-crawler.

Scorpion - Rumoured

Michael Mando was introduced as Mac Gargan in Spider-Man: Homecoming and given that conversation he had with Adrian Toomes in the movie's mid-credits scene, chances are he will return and take one step closer to becoming the Scorpion we know and love form the comic books. He's not confirmed for an appearance here but numerous reports have pointed to the actor showing up.

Zendaya - Confirmed

Michelle (a.k.a. "My friends call me MJ") has been spotted in a number of set photos and it was confirmed that she would be reprising her role as Peter Parker's classmate fairly early on. Whether or not she'll be a love interest remains to be seen but it wouldn't be a huge surprise if she were to grow closer with the wall-crawler as this adventure plays out seeing as she's such a popular character.

The Vulture - Confirmed

We're so used to villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe being killed off or simply disappearing, the news that Michael Keaton would return as Adrian Toomes in Spider-Man: Far From Home came as a major surprise. As of right now, he's behind bars but as the only bad guy who knows Spider-Man's true identity, don't be surprised if he either breaks out or finds a way to get even with the superhero.

Aunt May - Confirmed

This is hardly a surprise but Marisa Tomei will indeed be reprising the role of Aunt May in Spider-Man: Far From Home and considering the fact she learned that Peter Parker is Spider-Man at the end of the first movie, you'd best believe she'll have more to do here than just dishing out advice about parties and the prom. With any luck, Uncle Ben will finally come up when they discuss Peter's secret.

Hydro-Man - Rumoured

There's nothing concrete to say that Hydro-Man will be making an appearance in this movie but some watery stunts and an appearance from the villain in some Disney marketing materials are all pointing to him showing up to square off with Peter Parker. It would be a lot of fun to see him in action here because even though he's a minor Spider-Man villain, Hydro-Man has a lot of live-action potential.

Chameleon - Rumoured

Numan Acar has been cast as a character called Dmitri and while that could mean absolutely nothing, fans are understandably speculating that he could be playing The Chameleon. Having a villain like that show up here would make sense, especially if he's paired with Mysterio, someone who would more than likely have the ability to help someone like Dmitri Smerdyakov look however he chooses.

Mysterio - Confirmed

Talking of Mysterio, Jake Gyllenhaal will be taking on the role of Quentin Beck in this movie and while absolutely no details have been revealed about how the fishbowl wearing bad guy will be portrayed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this character is one fans have been hoping to see on the big screen for years now. Here's hoping the villain doesn't wind up being too grounded in reality, though, eh?

Nick Fury - Confirmed

We haven't seen much of Nick Fury since Avengers: Age of Ultron when he showed up with a Helicarrier in tow so what he's been up to for the past few years is something of a mystery. We know the former S.H.I.E.L.D. Director is responsible for bringing Captain Marvel back to Earth but what could he want with Spidey and/or Mysterio? That's one of the biggest questions we have about the sequel.

Maria Hill - Confirmed

Another character who hasn't done a whole lot since 2015, could it be that she and Nick Fury are working for Tony Stark these days? Whatever the answer may be, she was seen working with Fury at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, so these two are clearly trying to do everything they can to protect the world even though S.H.I.E.L.D. has fallen. What will she make of Spider-Man? That will be fun...

Pepper Potts - Rumoured

A lot of Avengers 4 rumours are pointing to Pepper Potts suiting up as R.E.S.C.U.E. but regardless of what the future holds in store for her, numerous sites have claimed that Gwyneth Paltrow will be making an appearance in Spider-Man: Far From Home. If those plot rumours about Mysterio stealing some tech from Stark Industries are correct, then it would definitely make sense for her to appear.

Ned Leeds - Confirmed

Another character whose return isn't exactly a shock, Ned Leeds coming back to offer Peter Parker some support on this field trip definitely adds up. He made a brief appearance in Avengers: Infinity War when Spider-Man swung away to help out Iron Man and Doctor Strange, so he's bound to have plenty of questions about Peter's trip into outer space and, you know, the fact he then turned into dust!

Mr. Delmar - Confirmed

A bit of a random one for you here but despite the fact most of Spider-Man: Far From Home will take place overseas, Mr. Delmar is set to return...for some reason! In case the name doesn't ring a bell, he's the guy who owned the deli which was blown up by those goons Spidey crossed paths with in Spider-Man: Homecoming and his return points to us spending at least some time in Queens in this sequel.

Molten Man - Rumoured

We recently heard that a Molten Man action figure will be included in a planned line of Spider-Man: Far From Home toys and that's understandably led to a lot of speculation about him making an appearance in the sequel. While you might think Marvel is doing a Spider-Man 3 by including too many villains, the first instalment proved that they know how to include minor bad guys in clever ways.

Alistair Smythe - Rumoured

There have been a lot of supposed "plot leaks" for Spider-Man: Far From Home but one of the more reliable efforts claimed that we're going to meet Alistair Smythe, a character who will be a rival of sorts to Peter Parker who attempts to turn his friends against him. His father, meanwhile, will reportedly work for Stark Industries and is somehow linked to the technology that Mysterio ends up stealing.

J. Jonah Jameson - Rumoured

J. B. Smoove has been cast in a mystery role in the sequel and while it could be that he's just playing a completely random character from the comic books, some fans believe that it's equally as likely he'll be taking on the role of Daily Planet Editor-in-Chief, J. Jonah Jameson. Enough time has passed since J. K. Simmons played the character for us to get a new take, so here's hoping this sequel makes it happen.

Flash Thompson - Confirmed

Flash Thompson didn't have a great deal to do in Spider-Man: Homecoming but he'll be making his return in the sequel, presumably to continue picking on Peter Parker. With any luck, he'll get something more than that to do here (perhaps we'll finally see him become a Spider-Man fanboy but I doubt it after what happened to his father's Audi) as there's really only so much that can be done with that.

Gwen Stacy - Rumoured

A lot of audition tapes have been doing the rounds for an actress playing a foreign version of Gwen Stacy and while we've heard nothing official about who will be playing her, it seems as if she's going to be someone Peter Parker meets while travelling overseas with his classmates. Whether or not Marvel is planning on taking them down a romantic route remains to be seen but it seems highly likely.

Iron Man - Rumoured

This is 100% rumour as of right now but Iron Man is another name which has frequently come up in regards to Spider-Man: Far From Home despite the fact we have no idea whether or not Tony Stark will even survive the events of Avengers 4. Considering the fact Nick Fury, Maria Hill, and Pepper Potts are all set to make an appearance, if he is still alive, there's no way he won't have some role to play.

I swear if there’s a scene where Pepper, Happy and Nick tell Pete that he’s “the future” and that Tony would be “proud” I might cry...

With Happy and Pepper (maybe) appearing in this film... I think Tony is a dead man...

I hope not, but it's starting to look more and more like it.

@LORDbuckethead

Yup! That’s exactly what I thought after I saw the Happy set pics.

Was Mysterio officially confirmed? Heard lots of talk and knew the Jake G. was near where they were filming, but I don't remember seeing anything "official."

Josh these are seriously getting ridiculous now. There's actual news coming today but instead we're gonna re-release an article from 2 days ago because a grainy set video seemingly confirmed ONE additional side character? Jesus. People used to exaggerate about you and this stuff but now it's sort of beyond parody. Congrats.

Spider-woman is not rumored? I remember that yes.

Nick Fury could send Jessica Drew to enter Peter's life.

Zendaya's MJ will turn into a bad girl. Check the look on her face at the end of homecoming. She is Mac Gargin's daughter!

No Jessica Drew? I figured of all people to be rumored, she would be at the top of your list, Josh.

It's funny how everyone is referred to by the names of their character except for Zendaya.

I hope all the student and teacher supporting cast return, in keeping with the Harry Potter / Hogwarts vibe the filmmakers said they were going for.

And please, more of the awkward school news segments! It’s a shame 90% of it didn’t make the cut in HC (they can be found in the bonus features). Would have made some funny transitions, like what they did in ROBOCOP.
