GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY And THE SUICIDE SQUAD Director James Gunn Reveals His Favorite Superhero Movie

James Gunn has directed two Guardians of the Galaxy movies (with a third on the way), while he's currently putting the finishing touches to The Suicide Squad for DC. With that in mind, it seems fair to say that he knows his way around the superhero movie genre, but which of the many films to have hit theaters over the years stands out as his favourite?

Well, echoing the thoughts of comic book fans everywhere, Gunn recently revealed on Twitter that he's a big fan of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the Oscar-winning animated movie from Sony Pictures.

Revolving around Miles Morales, Peter B. Parker, Gwen Stacy, and a host of other iconic comic book characters, the movie was a critical and commercial success, and a sequel is now in the works. We don't know what form that will take, but the expectation is that Miles' romance with Gwen will be front and centre.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse often tops lists of the greatest superhero movies of all-time, so Gunn's pick isn't overly surprising, and we can all agree the filmmaker clearly has good taste!

Might be my favorite superhero film of that decade, only behind Spider-Man 2 and TDK for superhero films in general

I consider Into the Spiderverse as a Superhero Animated movie.
Superheroes movies to me are the live action ones.

Spider-verse is fine...but greatest of all time?

It wasn’t even in my top five superhero movies the year it came out...

@TheUnworthyThor - It's an awesome movie but definitely overrated. Some people act like this movie is untouchable and I don't get it either.

I believe he said it's his favorite.

@Goldboink - If a person respects their own opinion there should be no difference between the two in something completely subjective like film.

@TheUnworthyThor - I have seen it on multiple TVs so it isnt the device, but in the beginning is the animations frame rate off? I have had people ask me the same so it cant be coincidence.

@TheUnworthyThor -
It's possible to recognize something as being the "best ever" but something else as being a "favorite". One is objective and one is subjective.
