THE FLASH Stumbles Again As SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE Returns To #1 At Domestic Box Office

The hits just keep on coming for The Flash as the latest DCEU movie slipped to #3 on Wednesday after being taken down by Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and even Pixar's Elemental. Check it out...

It took a couple of days more than expected, but Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has returned to the #1 spot at the North American box office just shy of three weeks since it first arrived in theaters.

Since then, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts and The Flash have both been released, but with the latter proving to be an unexpected box office flop, the door was opened to the web-slinger swinging back to the top of the charts. As we first reported on Toonado.com, that happened yesterday with a strong $3.8 million during its third Wednesday in theaters.

The Flash, on the other hand, fell to third place with $3 million behind Elemental's $3.5 million.

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has grossed over $500 million worldwide and the U.S. definitely appears to be driving much of its earnings thus far. By Friday, it should top $300 million stateside and could eventually go as high as $400 million.

As for The Flash, while early estimates point to it remaining at #1 this weekend, there are those who believe Across the Spider-Verse will emerge the victor. It doesn't need to at this point, but with so many people declaring it the better Multiversal movie, those who have slept on the sequel thus far may be tempted to give it a shot when the alternative is the divisive DCEU outing.

"A contender for the best Spider-Man film yet and easily the greatest animated movie ever made," we said in our review"Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is a jaw-dropping spectacle, a feast for the senses, and an instant Marvel classic."

In contrast, we concluded our review of The Flash by saying, "Far from the greatest superhero movie ever made and not quite among the worst, The Flash is still another mediocre effort from the DCEU with appalling VFX and a messy story that the excellent Michael Keaton and Sasha Calle alone are unable to save."

What will you be watching on the big screen this weekend?

For a wednesday, this doesn’t mean much. But if this happens this weekend (Flash coming in 3rd), that movie is going to bomb so hard. $300 million WW will be a huge loss for WB.

LOL, hold on. The movie was great but "easily the greatest animated movie ever made." Let's not get too crazy here. Maybe coming out of the US. Maybe. I'll debate the sentiment but never accept the "easily."
