Last week it was reported that Sony has a short list of actors that may be close to portraying Peter Parker aka Spider-Man in the franchise reboot. Bleedingcool.com is reporting that Jamie Bell (Jumper, Billy Elliot) may be very close to inking the deal...

In the last twenty-four hours, Bleeding Cool had received repeated reports that Sony have settled on their new Spider-Man. And he is Jamie Bell, English actor, star of Billy Elliot with another major comc-book lead under his belt, playing Tintin in the upcoming Spielberg/Jackson/Moffat/Cornish/Wright CGI adaptation of the popular comic.

I think Bell is a talent, a fine actor who will no doubt have a solid future in the industry, but is he ready for the role of a lifetime? That's the hard question. You guys know what to do!

Update: Although Bleeding Cool haven't heard anything back from Sony after their inquiry as to whether Bell's securing of the role is legit, Cinematical have received a firm "No Comment". No we all know that no comment means..well, no comment! But its not a denial, and since studios are not usually too hesitant about quashing a rumor, I for one think it may just mean Bell is our Spidey. But hey, who knows! You will as soon as we do. -Ror.
