We wouldn't call "Venom Day" a bust, but the Venom: Let There Be Carnage-themed event ultimately boiled down to a new clip, a couple of vignettes, and film critics proving they really can't act.
Morbius star Jared Leto ended up getting in on the action, though, and expressed his excitement for the upcoming Venom sequel. The Oscar-winner appropriately says that he can't wait to sink his teeth into the movie, and we can't help but wonder whether Venom and Morbius will one day cross paths.
The movie's release date has been pushed back to January 28, 2022, and it remains to be seen whether Venom: Let There Be Carnage references the Living Vampire in any way. Either way, it's hard to imagine Sony Pictures not having some tentative plans to bring together Venom, Morbius, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Kraven the Hunter (perhaps as a non-Multiversal Sinister Six).
Regardless, Sony's Spider-Man Universe is definitely expanding, and we're still waiting for news on what the studio has planned for characters like Black Cat and Silver Sable. There's also that Silk TV series, not to mention big plans for the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel, Olivia Wilde's Spider-Woman movie, and that long-rumoured Madame Web project!
It's certainly an exciting time to be a fan of the wall-crawler, and you'll want to check back here a little later today as the first critic reactions for the next Venom movie have slowly started appearing online.
