When Jamie Foxx was tapped to return as Electro in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the actor took to Instagram to share a piece of fan-art depicting the three big screen versions of Peter Parker facing his villain. While he quickly deleted that post, it took no time at all for rumors to pour in claiming Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire would reprise their respective roles as Spider-Man.
Since then, we've seen supposed leaked footage and photos from set showing the actors suited-up, and, with the film now playing in theaters, we can finally confirm that they were all real.
Yes, Garfield and Maguire return as their respective Spider-Men for Spider-Man: No Way Home, playing a key part in aiding the MCU's Peter Parker when he's at his lowest ebb. They're both present for the final battle and help set the wall-crawler on the path to becoming the hero fans know and love from the comics.
We learn that Garfield's Peter went down a dark path after Gwen Stacy's death, becoming bitter and spending most of his time as Spider-Man. After saving MJ and receiving a pep talk from Maguire's Spidey, it seems the door could be open for him to make things right, though. As for the original big screen Peter, it sounds like he and Mary Jane finally made their relationship work.
While both heroes return to their own worlds when all is said and done, it certainly feels like we could catch up with them again before too long... in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, perhaps? Oh, and yes, they both wear their classic costumes (masks and all) for a good chunk of their screentime!
