SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Webs Up $9.1 Million As UNCHARTED Goes For Gold With $45+ Million Opening

It's been another spectacular weekend for Spider-Man: No Way Home at the domestic box office, while Uncharted exceeded expectations and managed to unearth the booty with a bigger than expected debut...

Tom Holland's star power has been proven yet again this weekend with the release of Uncharted. Despite early projections that pointed to a $30 million debut over the President's Day weekend, the blockbuster is overperforming with an estimated $45 million haul at the North American box office.

Deadline notes that some analysts believe Uncharted could go as high as $50 million over the four-day period, meaning there's a strong chance the video game adaptation will launch another franchise for Holland. That's an impressive feat for an actor who is just 25-years-old.

Despite a 39% score on Rotten Tomatoes, audiences have responded positively to Uncharted, awarding it 88% on the review aggregator (it also received a solid B+ CinemaScore).

"The Uncharted games remain in a league of their own," we said in our recent review"but this movie captures their essence and delivers a rip-roaring, swashbuckling adventure with heaps of unexpected twists, full-throttle action, and another standout performance from Tom Holland."

That isn't the only good box office news for Holland this weekend; Spider-Man: No Way Home is set to earn an amazing $9.1 million during its tenth weekend of release. That takes its total to $772.1 million, and regardless of whether those re-release rumours are correct, the trade is confident that the Marvel Studios/Sony Pictures blockbuster will end its run with $800 million.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is in third place this weekend behind Uncharted and Dog.

Uncharted was good fun! Not great not terrible but a good start for the series. Felt like a more action packed national treasure. Surprisingly thought Holland killed it as Nathan.

Maybe art can imitate life and the second one will be better after the first was rough around the edges. Also, Zendaya as Elena.

10 weeks in and spiderman is making 9 million.

This is why The Batman being released on HBO max is a disastrous move🥲

@GeneralZod -

In the old man's defense, box office receipts =/= cinema (in terms of "quality").

That being said, to your point...

@GeneralZod - I'm sorry 4 months??? It released on December 17th... It's been almost exactly 2 months

@ThorArms - we're in the third month, and in 3 short weeks (thanks to a truncated February), we'll be in the 4th month, hence "approaches its fourth month." Cut me some slack, jack!

@tylerzero @General Zod - Clearly Zod is very passionate about this, but it could be worse.

Damn Tom Hollands new contract will be insane. He’s literally the biggest movie star right now.

I doubt it. NWH was not a success because of Tom Holland. His best moments of acting reserved primarily for the later half and obscured from trailers. Whereas the nostalgia focus of villains and the rather evident return of the original heroes coupled with the lack of a social focus unlike Black Widow, Eternals and Shang Chi was the main factor drawing in the crowds.
