The Spider-Man: No Way Home rumours continue to swirl thick and fast, and something tells us we won't know which ones are true (and false) until we're sitting in theaters on December 17. It has previously been reported that Spider-Man star Kirsten Dunst will reprise the role of Mary Jane Watson, and she commented on the rumor during a recent interview with Total Film.
Before we get to that, it obviously goes without saying that the actress wouldn't turn around and confirm her involvement! However, Dunst does seem pretty adamant she won't be back as MJ.
"I haven't seen any of them. I don't watch superhero movies, though," she responded when asked about Tom Holland's Spider-Man movies. "I don't watch anything like that, It's just not my kind of movie. I can't tell you the last time I saw one. I think I saw maybe Captain America with my friend in a theater, which was - what? - a long time ago when that first came out. I just don't watch them."
Asked if we can expect to see her in No Way Home, Dunst replied: "I'm not in that movie, no [laughs]. I know there's rumors, right? No, I'm the only one [not in it]. Can't put an old girl in there!"
It would be a shame to bring Tobey Maguire back and not catch up with Mary Jane at the same time, but not even he's been confirmed for the movie at this point! There are certainly ways around Dunst not reprising the role, especially if we only spend time with the Variant Spider-Men in the MCU.
Looks like we'll find out when Spider-Man: No Way Home is released in theaters next month.
