Tobey Maguire Sounds Like He'd Be Very Interested In Returning As SPIDER-MAN Again If Asked

Ever since Spider-Man: No Way Home united the three Spideys, fans have been clamoring for more and it sure sounds like Tobey Maguire would be more than down for a Spider-Man encore if asked.

It's been over a year since Spider-Man: No Way Home united all three live-action Spider-Men and ever since the epic event, fans have been clamoring for even more Spider-Man. Unfortunately, however, neither Sony Pictures nor Marvel Studios have been particularly forthcoming about the future of Tom Holland's wall-crawler nor have they said anything about additional appearances from Tobey Maguire and/or Andrew Garfield, although it seems as though all parties are very interested in an encore.

Ahead of next month's release of Spider-Man No Way Home: The Official Movie Special, Marvel has shared excerpts from new interviews with Maguire and Garfield, with the former sharing some interesting comments about potentially reprising his original Spider-Man role again in a future MCU film. When asked about getting the initial No Way Home call, he recounts,

"When they called initially, I was like finally! [Laughs] I got the call and was immediately open about coming to do this. Not without nerves – you know, “What will this look like and what will the experience be?” But to get to show up with beautiful, talented, creative people and play together? It’s just like, “Yes!” It’s fun and exciting."

Maguire continues and rather enthusiastically declares his willingness to come back as the original Spider-Man, if/when called upon.

"I love these films and I love all of the different series. If these guys called me and said, “Would you show up tonight to hang out and goof around?” or “Would you show up to do this movie or read a scene or do a Spider-Man thing?”, it would be a “yes!” Because why wouldn’t I want to do that?"

While Garfield hasn't made such a definitive statement, all signs point to him also being very interested in reprising the part if/when the time comes since he had a complete blast working on No Way Home opposite his predecessor and successor. The 2x Academy Award-nominated actor tells Marvel,

"I think myself, Tom, and Tobey came into this going, “Well, how’s this gonna go?” I’d had lovely interactions with Tom and Tobey previously; not big hangouts, but really sweet moments at parties or events – or as sweet and deep as those things can go, which is not very! But I got a really good vibe from Tom and a really good vibe from Tobey. So I was excited to get to know these guys more and to see what we could create together.

We all came with our own history and with our own relationship to the character in our own films. I think what really was wonderful, and how it unfolded very early on, was Tobey and I felt very aligned and very clear about what our intentions were for being there. Ultimately, it was to serve Tom as an actor and, as characters, serving Tom’s Peter Parker. I think from that place, everything flowed. It enabled Tobey and me to have a bit more fun maybe than we would’ve had if we were the ones fully carrying the story."

Nothing is set in stone and it's likely that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have been jointly mapping out what to do with Spider-Man over the course of the next decade, so hopefully we'll get some sort of news on that front before the end of this calendar year, if not by CinemaCon in April, at the earliest.

The rumor mill has already been churning with online scoopers claiming Maguire and Garfield are already set to feature prominently in 2026's Avengers: Secret Wars, which is certainly an exciting prospect, to say the least.

Whatever actually happens remains to be seen, but we're certainly rooting for them to show up and help save the multiverse.
