POLL: How Do You Feel About Sony's Plans For THE SINISTER SIX And VENOM?

In news which shocked just about everybody, Sony announced earlier this week that they are moving ahead not only with a third instalment of The Amazing Spider-Man, but also spin-offs featuring The Sinister Six and Venom. Here's your chance to tell us how you feel about the news!

Earlier this week, Sony Pictures revealed that they have formed a braintrust consisting of Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner, Ed Solomon, Drew Goddard and Marc Webb to create a larger universe for The Amazing Spider-Man. As well as confirming the release of a third instalment of that franchise, the studio are moving ahead with Venom (written by Kurtzman, Orci and Solomon with Kurtzman directing) and The Sinister Six from writer/director Drew Goddard.

While a movie starring Venom has been on the cards for years now, a spin-off featuring The Sinister Six is definitely an unexpected decision, and it's hard to imagine the direction that such a story will be taken in. So, how do you guys feel about Sony's plans? A lame Marvel Studios rip-off or a clever way of expanding Spider-Man's Cinematic Universe? here's your chance to decide...

Not interested in any of those characters, even if it's kinda cool that Sony is putting emphasis on villains.

I like the idea of a venom movie but I don't get how a sinister six movie would work. Would Spider-Man be in it? What's the point of having Spider-man villains team up if not to beat Spider-Man? And also how would general audiences react to it? I course us comic book lovers would like the movie but how would general audiences go with a movie about villains. I know it hasn't been said that Spider-man won't be in it but that's the assumption I have right now that makes me doubt a sinister six movie if it was by itself.
By all means bring on the sinister six in an amazing Spider-Man movie, like TASM3 or TASM4, and have the subtitles : the sinister six. But I don't know about a sinister six movie by itself.

Spider-man has to fight sinister six if just a villain movie without Spider-man dumb idea. Venom can work without Spidey but be a better movie if venom and spider-man had team up. Be more interesting see the interaction between peter and Eddie because they don't like each other.

Oh and this idea sounds sh*tty anyway.....why don't they see how the sales of Venom and Sinister Six solo comics do before they invest millions of $$ into this idea....

A sinister six movie could really work! You could use the entire film to see how the team comes together. See conflicts and triumphs amongst them as they aim towards their number one goal...defeating spider-man. Then have Spidey take them all in the 4th film using the Symbiote. They totally won't see it coming. Have Garfield renew his contract for a 5th and 6th film and give us adaptions of Kravens last hint and the last film featuring Spidey and venom to take on carnage. You guys have to seriously look at the possibilities for character development with the sinister 6 movie! :D

Sony's smart. They know that most of these characters you just can't cram into a single film. Instead give them a solo flick where we as an audience can see some character development. I'm supporting these films all the way. They won't make billions (so what) by they'll most def give us fans a more elaborate franchise!

Sony is counting on the Marvel brand name to get audiences to watch these movies. I would say about 70%-80% of the general audience don't understand that Spiderman and X-Men aren't products of Marvel Studios, and when they watch the opening credits and see a Marvel banner, they assume it is all from the same people.

I'd love to see a proper Venom movie....with Eddie Brock....but not using a skinny ass actor like Topher Grace....

Eddie Brock is like the jock, turned journalist, who goes nutty and evil...

The Amazing Spider-man's box office being way lower than any of the previous movies shows just how much the regular joes give a damn about a reboot.

So who in their right mind gives a damn about a bunch of silly looking costumed villains and creature-feature designed for adolescent boys?

Venom and Carnage are not classic Spider-man villains most grew up with, they're an abomination from the 1990's that has their own generation of niche fans. They were always going to be ridiculous villains to try to present to the general public with those silly teeth and lashing tongues, waaaaay too fanboy!

They simply HAVE to introduce Carnage in the Venom movie! It would be idiotic not to

It'll be awesome. Give us Gwen's death in this movie. Peter is heartbroken and in a dark place when the symbiote comes to him in the third movie (or it escapes from Oscorp since apparently they made it there), and he becomes dark. In the third movie have him whoop scorpions ass and embarrass rhino like he did in TAS. Have him take out another member of the sinister six and almost kill them.. halfway through the movie he'll realize how evil the symbiote is and goes on an inward journey to defeat it.

We'll see Uncle Ben and Gwen etc and he'll overcome the symbiote. It'll latch onto Eddie Brock and Spidey will have to fight the symbiote physically and he'll outsmart it.

The next set of movies would be Sinister 6 where all the villains come together to steal weapons and technologies to make themselves strong enough as a unit to defeat Spiderman. I dunno who the Sinister 6 could fight in this movie, maybe Kingpin or the Spider Slayers or something.. but then in TASM 4 the sinister 6 would attack Spidey. He'd eventually win. In the venom sequel, Venom fights Carnage.
