RUMOR: SPIDER-MAN 4 Will Lead Directly Into Next AVENGERS Movies

Some more rumors relating to Marvel/Sony's plans for a fourth solo Spider-Man movie are doing the rounds, and it sounds like the wall-crawler's next big screen outing may lead directly in Avengers 5 and 6.

Though the movie still hasn't been "officially" announced, we know from several people involved with the franchise - including star Tom Holland and Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige - that a fourth Spider-Man film is in the works.

The movie is said to be in the very early stages of development, but it sounds like it might be a little further along that we've been led to believe.

According to insider Daniel Richtman, the script is still being written, but Marvel/Sony hope to release Spider-Man 4 before the next Avengers film (still titled The Kang Dynasty for now, but that's expected to change), and the story will lead directly into the events of that movie and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Plot details are still a mystery, but a previous rumor claimed that Sony Pictures is eager to replicate some of No Way Home's box office glory by bringing Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield back for the next solo Spidey adventure. We've also heard that Wilson Fisk/Kingpin is set to appear, but Vincent D'Onofrio is not believed to have entered talks.

There's a possibility that this has led to a conflict of interest, with Kevin Feige campaigning for the movie "to be more grounded, while Sony wants it to be huge." Scooper CWGST has heard that things aren't "so hot" behind-the-scenes on the project, so take that as you will.

Both Garfield and Maguire have previously expressed interest in returning, so even if they don't show up in Spider-Man 4, we'd say there's a very good chance of them swinging by forSecret Wars (if not before).

Holland and Zendaya will almost certainly return as Peter Parker and MJ, but the former is believed to be "growing wary" of playing the iconic hero, so this could be his final time in the red and blue suit.

During a recent interview, the actor said he feels that he's become too used to the "safety blanket of Spider-Man."

"I want to do things that scare me, things that make me uncomfortable. When you do what we do, you have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. This show is a perfect example of that. Ben is consistently telling me, if you don’t commit, they won’t believe you. The reason I wasn’t committing is because I was afraid. I’ve never done anything like this before. I got so used to the Marvel machine and the safety blanket of Spider-Man, feeling like I was protected. So, doing something like this was incredibly scary, but because it was so scary, it was so fulfilling and so rewarding. Going forward, if there’s something that I feel like I can’t do, I want to do that one. Playing a sort of stupid English doofus is not what I want to do because that’s my life, right?"

No Way Home scribes Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are currently working on the script, but we still don't know which of the Wall-Crawler's fearsome foes will be causing problems for Peter and co.

Most of Spidey's major bad guys have already been utilized in previous films (Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, etc), but a recent rumor claimed that the still untitled sequel will feature a villain we haven't seen in live-action yet.

Agreed. There's also no guarantee we even get a Spider-man 4. All this is a mixture of people mentioning it because they know Spider-man is popular and Disney releasing fake reports in order to leverage the fans to try and convince Sony to do a deal.

Sony have zero incentive to make a fourth film with Disney at this time. The MCU brand is damaged, the Superhero genre might be declining. They can do their own Spider-man series with or without Tom Holland and it'd be financially viable given how popular No Way Home was. They don't stand to gain anything from having the fourth film be set in the MCU even if they wanted to do a sequel.

It'd actually benefit them to just make their own film, Tom Holland is contracted to Sony and they already have the set-up of their version of Eddie Brock/Venom potentially being involved. They can just do Spider-man Vs Venom and it'd probably be the first Superhero movie in a while to make $1bn+.

@Scarilian - Agreed. I'm shocked that the DEI crew still holds sway over the accounting department after shameless (and VERY welcomed) fan service like No Way Home generate more revenue (and good will) than 2 or 3 DEI shit shows combined.

@Scarilian - Tom Holland has signed for Spiderman 4 at least, i think it also was for smaller roles in two other movies (Avengers 5 and 6).
I am sure that he won't stay Spiderman besonders Secret Wars.

Tom Holland is not signed on to reprise as of currently - in any form.

As far as I can tell it's just Disney trying to imply that they are working on scripts, but I think that's part of negotiation tactics.

Guarantee you 100% MCU Spidey would make more than a Sony Spidey movie. Sony is way more damaged.

"Guarantee you 100% MCU Spidey would make more than a Sony Spidey movie"

There's more hype for a Raimi Tobey Maguire Spider-man 4 and an Andrew Garfield Spider-man 3 than there is for an MCU Spider-man 4.

After NWH nobody was talking about the potential for the fourth MCU film, they were hoping Sony would see the potential in Tobey and Andrew's storylines. Sony themselves intended to have Madame Web originally set in the Amazing Spider-man universe and later tried to rework it to fit in the Tobey Maguire Spider-man universe.

I swear to God Sony, just let Disney handle it. We need grounded
UNLESSSSSS the movie is 95 percent dealing with Kingpin, and then in the last 2 mins of the movie a bunch of Kangs come through a portal (like the ending of mortal kombat from the 90s when Shao Kahn shows up) threatening to destroy our reality, and all the spideys gang up with daredevil and are like...

I just want a Spider-man movie where Peter Parker, dressed in a homemade costume, fights a member of the Sinister Six in Manhattan. I’m okay with the occasional team-up multiverse movie, but that shouldn’t be every single film.

After releasing garbage like Morbius and Madame Web, Sony should not be calling the creative shots on future live-action Spider-man movies.

From what you are saying, it seems like you are wanting what Sony wants, but don't want them to handle it...

Sony wants to have Spider-man for a Sinister Six movie and have been attempting to set-up the Sinister Six. It's current members are expected to be Doc Ock, Vulture, Morbius, Mysterio, Kraven and Sandman. Electro was swapped for Morbius after they agreed to do NWH.

Sony also wants to do multiverse story where Tobey, Andrew and Tom's Spider-men will team up with the three Spider-women who are established in Madame Web - where the six will be sent on a multiverse mission. Sony also want to do a live action Miles Morales movie and incorporate him into this film.

Disney wants Spider-man so they can have so they can advertise Daredevil: Born Again and then appear in the black suit for marketing purposes of Secret Wars.

Disney also wants to use Tobey Maguire in Secret Wars for publicity/nostalgia and for the sake of killing him off as the new 'Tony Stark' to fuel the Symbiote Saga with Peter. They want to have the Symbiote Saga last a trilogy with Kraven, Prowler and Venom as the villains respectively as the films would act as a trilogy passing over the mantle to Miles Morales.

The first time I saw Tom Holland doing a movie that wasn’t Spider-Man, he was in a dress and getting banged by a dude… if that’s what you would rather do then please leave the webs to someone who will appreciate them.

Sony don't really have an incentive to make a Spider-man 4 with Disney, No Way Home was a celebration of their products, their legacy of Spider-man films. The weakest part of that film was the MCU aspects with the poor characterization of Doctor Strange.

Spider-man: NWH set-up Peter on his own and potentially exploring the Black Suit saga. These are aspects that would work without the MCU/Disney.

• Sony have Venom established, they could have Spider-man Vs Venom.
• Sony have Kraven established, they could adapt Kraven's Last Hunt.

I think all these rumours are either completely fake or Disney trying desperately to influence public opinion to pressure Sony into a deal.

It'd be Disney who are worse off if they cannot bank on the Spider-man's for Secret Wars. Disney need Sony, not the other way around.

@Scarilian - You are wrong.

Sony can't do a good Spiderman movie on it's own.
Amazing 1 & 2 were okay and bad, as were VENOM 1 & 2.
Morbius was bad and Madame Web was absolute garbage.

Kraven looks bad and Venom 3 will be the 3rd same fight of Symbiote against Symbiote(s) and the final Tom Hardy cbm.

As proven by NWH, not really. The sheer nostalgia factor of seeing characters from the prior Sony films is why that film made so much compared to the other two films which were more focused on the MCU with Iron Man and Nick Fury.

There's more interest in a Raimi Spider-man 4 with Tobey Maguire or an Andrew Garfield Spider-man 3 than there is in an Tom Holland Spider-man 4 - especially because every MCU Spider-man movie just does the same 'with great power comes great responsibility' and never varies. It's three films of repeating Spider-man's origin over and over.
SATW42
SATW42 - 2/19/2024, 12:09 PM
@Scarilian - I'm talking about the quality of what Sony puts out. Yeah 21 years ago they made a good spider-man (that rode a post 9/11 need for a hero and "New York YEAH" attitude btw)

Now they make Madame Web
Scarilian
Scarilian - 2/19/2024, 4:18 PM

They also made No Way Home.

Disney wanted it to just be Doctor Strange Vs Spider-man with America Chavez as the secondary lead character. At one stage they wanted Green Goblin to be dressed in the MK3 Iron Man suit riding the drone from Far From Home. They wanted to just have quick flashes of the multiverse like in MoM as opposed to actually developing the multiverse.

Sony wanted to turn it into their Sinister Six movie they've always wanted to do and then bring in the other Spider-men at the end for the climactic battle and to set-up more crossover multiverse films in the future.

Everything people liked about No Way Home was Sony's decision. As such in terms of quality, I'd much rather see the interesting concepts and the risks taken by Sony as opposed to the sheer garbage Disney will do with Spider-man.

Yeah bringing the 3 together again is a mistake unless its Secret Wars. Sony does love their Spider-verse though. Either way, they already teased the black suit. That is a pretty simple movie that hasn't been done right. Those Venom movies won't continue on forever so they should just make a new one.

I don't think a Spider-man 4 would work well financially compared to No Way Home unless its throwing a lot at the audience. I imagine Sony and Disney have similar thoughts in that regard:

Disney wants to shove in Kingpin and a bunch of lower tier Spider-man villains and have him team-up with Daredevil, only for Kraven to arrive and turn into an adaptation of Kraven's Last Hunt.

Sony wants to do Spider-man Vs Venom, Sinister Six OR a multiverse movie with all six Spider-people (Tobey, Andrew and Tom teamed with the three Spider-women from Madame Web)

Both are trying for high levels of spectacle.

Leading into Avengers 5 doesn't sound street level.

Looks like Sony won. Wonder if they used the Tom Holland argument (Sony wanted Tom Holland, Marvel wanted the other guy), but that's not a fair argument, because for all we know the other guy could have been even better. Probably would have been.

Not much of a rumor because we have known this for a while now. And I hope it's shitty AF.
I simply want to see the Emm She Ewe crash and burn.
After The Marvels, they really should try to not be stupid and make use of their low intelligence and do a quick reset.
Them scrambling around looking like fools is pure entertainment.

F*ck! ai pray this isn't true. I understand an end credits tease, but this film needs to be a street level film in every way. If not, that just ignores the ending of No Way Home.
