The review embargo for Spider-Man 2 lifted yesterday and, a little over 24 hours later, that means we have a Metacritic score for the game.
While these don't quite hold the same weight as Rotten Tomatoes scores for movies and TV shows, the site is one largely used by gamers to see how upcoming releases like this one are faring with reviewers. As of now, the sequel has a 91/100 score based on 122 critic reviews and has been dubbed a "Metacritic Must-Play."
For context, Spider-Man holds an 87/100 score, while Spider-Man: Miles Morales received an 85/100.
Even though some have criticised Spider-Man 2 for not breaking new ground in terms of gameplay (it sounds largely the same as its predecessors) the prevailing opinion seems to be that Insomniac has delivered another huge win. In fact, "game of the year" talk is already being thrown around by those who have been fortunate enough to play the game before its release this Friday.

Needless to say, we can't wait to see what Insomniac now has in store for us with its previously announced Wolverine game!
With this score comes a fresh batch of screenshots showcasing Sandman, Venom, Kraven the Hunter, and both Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
We're also going to warn you that, now the review embargo has lifted, there are heaps of spoilers floating around. For example, some critics have shared images they've taken in Spider-Man 2's "Photo Mode," inadvertently revealing some big surprises (such as Mysterio's appearance and unlockable costumes).
