SPIDER-MAN 2: Lizard Is Ready For His Close-Up In New Poster For The Video Game Sequel

The latest poster for Spider-Man 2 keeps the spotlight on the sequel's villains, and something tells us Peter Parker and Miles Morales will have their work cut out for them if they hope to stop this beast.

We've taken on The Lizard while playing as Spider-Man in multiple video games, but Dr. Curt Connors is about to step back into the spotlight in this October's Spider-Man 2 from Insomniac Games.

The first instalment established that Peter Parker has already crossed paths with the villain so, short of a retcon, we're assuming this sequel won't be the first time they've gone web to claw. However, as the first gameplay footage confirmed, Kraven the Hunter also plans on taking down The Lizard!

The latest character poster (first shared on GameFragger.com) offers perhaps our best look yet at this monstrous take on the character and we're now more intrigued than ever before to learn what sort of role he'll play in this story (beyond being Kraven's latest big game target).

Talking recently about Spider-Man 2's villains, creative director Bryan Intihar said, "Whether it's Kraven - which we confirmed in the beginning of the sequence - and obviously, we showed Venom when we first announced the game and now with the Symbiote and Pete being bonded with the Symbiote, there's naturally going to be some darker elements to the story."

"That's just being respectful to those characters," he added, "and what they bring to the overall experience." The Lizard should fit well into any darker Spider-Man story, so in that respect, it makes sense for him to appear here.

Check out the latest Spider-Man 2 poster below along with those for Kraven and Symbiote Spider-Man. As for Peter and Miles Morales' posters, those can be found by clicking here.

The Lizard was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko and first appeared in 1963's Amazing Spider-Man #6. Despite remaining an antagonist, he's also been portrayed as a tragic antihero and occasional ally of Spider-Man. Connors is sometimes an ally of Spider-Man just as himself, and not necessarily as his alter ego.

In the comics, geneticist Dr. Curt Connors was studying some reptiles' capacity to develop new limbs. In an effort to restore his lost right arm, he created a lizard DNA-based serum and tested it on himself.

Instead of regaining his arm, he was transformed into The Lizard. Connors' change was reversed by Spider-Man, but the Lizard remained in Connors' memory and would repeatedly reappear, frequently keeping Connors' intelligence and aiming to usurp humanity with a race of reptile animals similar to himself.

Spider-Man 2 is set to be released on October 20.

If only the ASM movie went with this design.

@ModHaterSLADE - That film series hit all the wrong notes design-wise, aside from the Amazing Spider-Man 2 costume, which still had some flaws in my opinion.

@DarthAlgar - ASM2 suit is pretty damn good.

@ModHaterSLADE -
A bit too spiky and monstrous personally, you don't get the vibe that it's got any of Curt Connors left. I think they should have incorporated the tattered lab coat/clothing also though.

Why do all these character designers hate the lab coat?

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - because he doesn't need that. Also look at the design no way coat would hang with those spikes lol. There is also possibility that he evolves throughout the game and we see the coat early.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - with his scale in this game and design it makes sense that it wouldn't fit anywhere on him anymore. He clearly had it at some point though as affirmed in the first game.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 -
I'm guessing that they'll have some level of mystery as to the identity of Lizard, kinda narrows down the suspects if he has his lab coat. Scale could also be a factor. I also miss the lab coat though.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - I know, right? The lab coat is iconic and actually humanizes him, which is essential.

This is a bit better than what it looked like we might be getting in the demo footage.

With that said, it would be nice if they held off on certain reveals for promotional material since the game tries to do so.
