Emma Stone Reveals Whether She Would Be Interested In Playing SPIDER-GWEN

Very few newly created comic book characters have quite taken the world by storm like Spider-Gwen, but many fans are now hoping she will soon make her big screen debut.

The Amazing Spider-Man Universe is dead. Andrew Garfield will no longer be playing Peter Parker when the wall-crawler makes his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut, and Sony's spinoff plans have been put on the back burner while Kevin Feige looks to repair the damage they did to the franchise.

One idea thrown around by Sony was a female led spinoff, and some "Sony Hack" emails actually addressed the possibility or bringing Emma Stone back as either Spider-Gwen or - seriously - Carnage. That could still happen, and when MTV News caught up with the actress, they asked her if she would be interested in taking on the role. It sounds like she very much is, and while Stone points out that a lot of moving parts would have to come together to make it happen, Marvel and Sony would no doubt have a hit on their hands if they moved forward with Spider-Gwen

The video is also well worth a watch to see Bradley Cooper's complete befuddlement at the name as he questions why she would be called Spider-Gwen when Spider-Man isn't called "Spider-Peter". Would you like to see Stone lead a movie starring the fan-favourite Spider-Verse character?

"The video is also well worth a watch to..."

...listen to Emma Stone's sexy, raspy, intoxicating voice? Yes, Josh, I agree.

Dope costume. Films and especially Sony would probably screw up the premise of an alternate timeline or be too afraid to use it. Had a brief discussion with Nail earlier this week, Flash needs to give itself several pats on the back for being one of the first live-action adaptions to open that possibility.

I mean... It may sound okay, if you think that would be nice to the actress, as she put some real effort to the character, but really don't make much sense put her on the role again, as much as make no sense using this variant, Spider-Gwen, in a film. At least, not right now.

Can we make Spider-Peter a thing? Please?

The Amazing Spider-man movies were not doubt big disappointments. Sloppy storytelling, wildly uneven tone, and anticlimactic resolutions. But the silver lining of these movies, for me anyway, will always be Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy.
If not for the fact that upcoming incarnation of Peter Parker will be cast so young, I would have had Emma Stone back in her role in a heartbeat. It's too bad that whoever will play the MCU version of Gwen will have an up-hill battle in terms of matching Stone's charisma and exuberance.
I think it's more likely that Stone will resume the Gwen role via sketch show (like FunnyOrDie) or a fan film (like Thomas Jane for Dirty Laundry). Her as Spider-Gwen would be pretty cool.

Just clarifying the name thing: she is called Spider-Woman. She was nicknamed Spider-Gwen by the comic book community and it caught on.

I'd love to see Emma do it. Won't happen, but I'd love it.

"Spider-Gwen? So, Marvel Comics has been reduced to that?"

If by reduced you mean kicked ass with, then sure.

This topic is irrelevant now, and that's good, for the time being at least. Just remember that Marvel doesn't have the full rights back yet. Why does everyone misconstrue that report from months back? Wishful thinking?

What a waste of talent.

Though I'm still waiting on my Gwen Stacey action figure with neck breaking action.

Come on Hasbro.

Amazing Spider-man was fine, it was better than Iron Man 2.
Amazing Spider-man 2 was not so fine. But the costume was f ucking perfect.
Spider-gwen is a ridiculous concept.

Weird. All these anti MCU Spidey comments are under the illusion that what Marvel is doing with the character isn't the right direction to go in. NEWS FLASH: ...It is.
