BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE Star Mark Hamill Shares His Thought's On Jared Leto's Joker
Considered the greatest Joker of all-time by many comic book fans, Star Wars Episode VIII actor Mark Hamill has weighed in on Jared Leto's take on the Clown Prince of Crime in Suicide Squad.
Jared Leto's take on The Joker has divided fans, though with much of his performance left on the cutting room floor, whether or not we can fairly judge the Oscar winning actor's take on the iconic villain in Suicide Squad is hard to say. However, Mark Hamill, who has played the Clown Prince of Crime longer than anyone else, has now shared his thoughts on Leto's performance. So, what's his verdict?
During an interview with Polygon, Hamill reportedly told the site that he loved his take on The Joker, but did add that he's yet to see a version that's made him say, "That was terrible." Hamill instead explained that he looks at each iteration for what that version needs to be at the time we meet them.
"Everyone brings a different spin to the character and you have to look at each script separately," Hamill said. "I don’t think there’s a definitive version of the Joker and I don’t think there can be. It’s like Hamlet, really. It’ll be constantly redefined. So, a fairly diplomatic answer, but it seems like he was a fan. Whether or not we'll get to see more of Leto as The Joker is unclear after the mixed response to Suicide Squad, but he definitely deserves another chance. Perhaps that will come in The Batman?
