Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was far from a box office flop, but it didn't quite manage to live up to Warner Bros.' $1+ billion expectations. Suicide Squad however looks set to probably exceed whatever they're hoping for as The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the movie is currently tracking to debut with a massive $125 million during its opening weekend in North America early next month.
Some box office analysts believe it could end up going even higher, and it's going to be very interesting to see whether it will end up topping Deadpool's $132.4 million, especially as the David Ayer helmed release is rated PG-13. Interestingly, given its perceived similarities to Guardians of the Galaxy (they're both relatively obscure teams), it should easily top that movie's $94.3 million from August 2014.
It's ultimately the reviews and word of mouth which will make or break Suicide Squad, so assuming they're good, expect the first big screen adventure for Task Force X to be one of the most successful movies of the summer. What are your predictions for its opening weekend come August 5th?
