While very different from the classic jester's uniform she typically sports in the comics, Harley Quinn's new red and blue design for Suicide Squad was well-liked by many fans. Some new concept art has now made its way online, showing some of the alternate designs for Harley in the film.

Entertainment Weekly caught up with costume designer Kate Hawley, who said that Harley’s costumes were inspired by looking at Instagram accounts of Mexican drug cartels and the attire that rock and roll icons like Debbie Harry, Courtney Love, and Patti Smith wore. This is similar to the Joker, who was also qoted to be inspired by Instagram drug lords.

Despite being the Joker's lackey, Hawley said that Harley’s sex appeal came from her own sense of style, and that she didn’t dress sexy to impress the Joker. “She’s a girl’s hero,” Hawley said. “It was understanding how do we make her feel sexy by owning it as opposed to what a man thinks is sexy.”

While both pieces keep the red and blue design, they also play with Harley's makeup, showing a far more "punk" inspired look reminiscient of the rock icons mentioned above. What do you think of these looks? Sound off below!

Poor Margo Robbie. Read a magazine article where she touched on this: how her attractiveness has really catapulted her career. She knows her sex appeal is the driving force of her roles so far.

It's funny, because she's a hell of an actress. In the scene where she leaves DiCaprio in Wolf of Wall Street, she's a fed up mother and disillusioned wife who's had enough. She plays it perfectly. You got a sign of how good she is.

I really hope she gets a role that's meaty as hell and she can just worry about acting and not taking her top off or wearing booty shorts. She even said that was awkward in SS. Reading the interview, as well as watching her on Ellen, she's awkward and nerdy as shit. Not in a bad way, in a genuine way.

Hope she can find and even a balance of being well respected for her craft and still an obvious beautiful woman who, unfortunately cause it's Hollywood & that's the reality, will get roles because she's said gorgeous woman, but it won't define her in an egregious or disrespectfull way.

@ComicsBornAndBred - Well that is the way Hollywood or even the music industry works.......they love good looking people. I do agree she is a great actress.
