THE SUICIDE SQUAD Director James Gunn Confirms Some Sort Of First Look At The DC FanDome Event

The Suicide Squad writer and director James Gunn has confirmed that his DC Comics movie will have a presence at this month's DC FanDome event; the question is, will that end up being a teaser trailer?

Luckily for The Suicide Squad, shooting was finished before the COVID-19 pandemic closed Hollywood down. As a result, writer and director James Gunn has spent the past several months working on post-production, and he's now reiterated that it will meet its planned August 6th, 2021 release date.

Taking to Twitter yesterday evening, Gunn also promised fans that they'll get a "glimpse" at the movie during DC FanDome later this month. That could be concept art, imagery revealing an official look at the new Task Force X, or even a teaser trailer; for now, it obviously remains to be seen what happens.

It's hard not to get excited about whatever Warner Bros. has planned for The Suicide Squad at this event, though, and Gunn points to there being plenty of other DC Films reveals this month.

A virtual event taking place over 24 hours, the hope is that DC FanDome will be a bigger success than Comic-Con@Home, an event which barely registered with fans thanks to its lack of noteworthy reveals. Of course, a big part of why that's the case is studios like Warner Bros. saving them for their own events.

Check out Gunn's comments below:

I think this one will do better than the first movie from the director of Guardians Of The Galaxy could be enough.

Gunn's been hyping up FanDome a lot, seems pretty excited for it. Also, I guess DC really is a "director driven" studio... if you're one of the few directors they're willing to trust, lol

@tmp3 - Haha I find it hilarious that Snyder wasn't one of the ones that they trusted initially. I'm excited to see where DC goes from here, hopefully with more of a direction to make good movies with their characters as opposed to a total shared universe

@Dredd97 - I'd take them giving interesting creatives like Ava, Reeves & Gunn the keys to do whatever they want with their DC properties over getting milquetoast dudes like Muschietti to just do lame continuity-heavy "event" movies.

@Dredd97 - It's one thing to let Snyder make a movie. It's another entirely to put him in charge of the whole DCEU.
I like this comic-run approach, where producers and directors are essentially group editors of the characters they're in charge of, i.e. Jenkins in charge of the WW corner, Johnson in charge of Shazam/Black Adam/JSA, Reeves in charge of Batman, Wan in charge of Aquaman, etc.
Dredd97
Dredd97 - 8/5/2020, 7:08 PM
@tmp3 - Yeah, I totally agree

Dredd97 - 8/5/2020, 7:09 PM
@Battabing - In concept those are great ideas, but they need someone in charge who is capable of being in charge
tmp3
tmp3 - 8/5/2020, 11:18 PM
@Battabing - Making Dwayne Johnson in charge of Shazam/Black Adam sounds like a terrible, franchise-killing idea
Battabing
Battabing - 8/6/2020, 7:25 AM
@tmp3 - It depends on what he's doing and how he's applying his strengths. The guy did save the Fast/Furious franchise practically by himself.
tmp3
tmp3 - 8/6/2020, 7:52 AM
@Battabing - Those movies are bad, and Black Adam sounds like pure shit, so he's causing nothing but harm to the brand. Unless you're honestly gonna defend the writer of Scoob and the director of The Orphan and a dozen disposable Liam Neeson flicks.
Battabing
Battabing - 8/6/2020, 8:40 AM
@tmp3 - I have to wait until I actually see Black Adam.
That's how it works.
tmp3
tmp3 - 8/6/2020, 8:50 AM
@Battabing - It has a shitty director and a shitty writer, neither of which has collectively even made a single good movie. Not sure why that'd suddenly change with an over-stuffed Black Adam movie, but you do you.
Battabing
Battabing - 8/6/2020, 9:42 AM
@tmp3 -
But they could make a good Black Adam movie. You won't know until you see the movie.
tmp3
tmp3 - 8/6/2020, 9:59 AM
@Battabing - lol, you love pre-judging so many creatives; you literally doubted Nia DaCosta's credentials because Boden/Fleck came from an indie background too, but you're willing to give two certified hacks the benefit of the doubt because "muh DC"
Battabing
Battabing - 8/6/2020, 3:05 PM
@tmp3 - I flat-out said Nia DaCosta was a massive improvement over the last indie choice at Marvel based on what I've seen of Candyman, and that's true, because Boden/Fleck sucked.

I haven't said anything about the director of Black Adam, other than needing to see Black Adam (or a trailer) first.

But, you do what you do, bruh.
