The Suicide Squad has failed to meet expectations at the box office, and while it's still early days, a variety of factors mean it's unlikely to pick up much steam over the course of its theatrical run.
For that reason, a direct sequel may not be something Warner Bros. is willing to take a chance on, but if director James Gunn was given the opportunity to return for more Task Force X adventures, would he be interested in sending the Squad up against the might of the Justice League?
"I'd have to think about that. I haven't put any thought into a Suicide Squad vs. Justice League movie, but it's not a bad idea," Gunn told CNA Lifestyle when asked about a potential crossover. "But I think I gotta figure out who the Justice League is first because I have no clue. I'm here in the middle of DC [and] people are always asking me, 'Is Henry Cavill still Superman?' I don't know who Superman is... who knows!"
Gunn makes a great point - does the Justice League even exist in the DCEU at the moment? We know the studio won't be moving forward with the "SnyderVerse" following the release of Zack Snyder's Justice League, and while Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa and Ezra Miller are still locked in to their respective roles, it'll probably be a while before we see some kind of rebooted version of the team.
If and when it does happen, though, a JL Vs. TSS movie is certainly an exciting prospect. We know one of Gunn's early ideas would have seen Task Force X attempt to take-down Superman, so that concept could very easily be tweaked and expanded upon to include the rest of the League.
What do you guys think? Would you be interested in a Justice League vs. The Suicide Squad movie?
