We weren't expecting this until a little later today, but the new trailer for James Gunn's The Suicide Squad has now been shared online ahead of schedule.

As previously reported, the trailer features a direct reference to Bloodsport trying to take Superman out with a Kryptonite bullet, but there's plenty more besides as the members of Task Force X embark on "Operation Starfish" (no, that's nothing to do with the slang word for butthole).

This is the version of the teaser that's currently playing as a YouTube ad on certain videos (why they don't just officially release the damn thing online is anyone's guess), so it may not stay up for very long. Check it out below while you can, and let us know what you think.

Click HERE to see the trailer, which is introduced by Harley Quinn star Margot Robbie.

"Welcome to hell — a.k.a. Bell Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A. Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out — even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today's do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin, and everyone's favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese." "Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and- destroy mission with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave...and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them."

We recently found out that the movie was officially rated R for "strong violence and gore, language throughout, some sexual references, drug use and brief graphic nudity."

The Suicide Squad is set to premiere on HBO Max and in theaters on August 6.

This is quite different from the earlier trailers, but I still like it. And no matter what I'm told, this definitely is a reboot or takes place in the post-Flash reboot universe.

@Spike101 - why? Looks fun. Better than the previous trailer that tried to much to be edgy.

@kitheka - that’s a good question. Honestly I’m not sure really. Maybe it’s because it’s featuring a lot of characters I’m not familiar with. Let’s see.

@MrCamw1 - That link doesn’t go to Twitter though…

At any rate it’s not the official trailer release, just Margot streaming it from her screen, so it won’t be on YouTube till later.

I find it hard to believe Bloodsport put this Superman on the ICU.

@LameLuka - would definitely need context. If it was that easy to put supes down, lex would've done that long ago lol.

@kitheka - To be fair it is a kryptonite bullet and as you might think that is simple, they haven't done it very often in the comics.

@kitheka - Maybe Lex hired him. Also, it’s not a much more complicated plan than a kryptonite spear lol
LameLuka
LameLuka - 6/22/2021, 8:51 AM
@Steel86 - I know its kryptonite, but where did he get it ? Unless someone got it from the spear that killed Doomsday and gave it to him
LameLuka
LameLuka - 6/22/2021, 8:51 AM
@OmegaBlack13 - Yes that would make sense, and who knows, maybe the bullet was made out of that kryptonite spear
LameLuka
LameLuka - 6/22/2021, 8:54 AM
@kitheka - yeah, even Batman needes prep time to atleast create those kryptonite gas bombs and the spear

@LameLuka - I don't like it either. He'd have to already be caught in some kind of trap. I mean, he is faster than a speeding bullet after all and he'd hear the shot.

@LameLuka - he probably fished it out of the ocean just like those kids did at the beginning of bvs /s. Though actually, they could just say that lex didn't necessarily have all of the kryptonite and other people managed to get it from the indian ocean after man of steel (I mean, the whole place surrounding the terraforming machine was left unguarded, how hard could it be?).

I believe it happened in the comics, though.

@LameLuka - Jesus [frick]ing Christ on a goddamn pogo stick. Read a goddamn comic book.

@RocketRed - yea, that's the contrived writing that makes superman a horrible character in the comics and in other media. He's powerful enough to dodge that bullet and incapacitate a mere human with a gun.
RocketRed
RocketRed - 6/23/2021, 9:30 AM
@kitheka - "Superman is a horrible character, because he's an overpowered Mary Sue." "Superman is a horrible character because he's NOT am overpowered Mary Sue."

[frick] off.
