Superman director Zack Snyder may recast Brandon Routh as the Man of Steel afer being impressed by fans...

Originally WB demanded an all-new cast after they were underwhelmed by Superman Returns' weak box office take.

But Zack revealed that Brandon WILL be considered for the role after he saw an online fan campaign (maybe on CBM?) to have the star reinstated.

"I know!" he told the News of the World. "I didn't realise there would be such a groundswell."

I'm totally cool with this...I thought he played a great Superman, and it was Singer who told him to be so emotionless...hopefully he'll be able to let loose in the next one if he gets the part

Of course he'll consider him. It's the polite thing to do, not to mention it might give a Snyder little bump with the fans. In the end though, I highly doubt he'll recast Routh.

Personally I'm okay with either Routh or Welling, both have done a decent job potraying the Character. But the truth is niether of them will be as good as Chrstopher Reeve.

Yeah HulkPool, i mean if you have Nolan and Snyder sitting in the judges chairs when they audition Routh and actually end up recasting him, we'd be really anal to not let it slide. Same would go for Welling really, come to think of it. And that coming from me is huge since i really [frick]ing hate Superboy Welling. That guy couldn't look his age even with Zeus's beard on!!! But the truth is niether of them will be as good as Dean Cain.

I'm not so sure this is fake. I'm not saying I think he will get the role in a million years, but there is no reason to think Snyder won't as least CONSIDER him.

I keep hearing people say Routh's not big enough
the guy is 6'2" or 6'3" and wgts 225lbs
that's plenty big. He's bigger than Bale,
Downey,Keaton,Cain and I can name a few more
who's played heroes in CBM's OR T.V. shows.

Routh needs another crack at it I personally
feel Singer was the problem not Routh. Hopefully
this article has some juice to it and we could
possibly see ROUTH back!!!

@Ajax - It's funny you would mention DeCaprio as a mediocre actor. His talent has done nothing but grow in his career. I think he's one of the best actors of his generation, if not the best.

I'm pretty sure the article got it wrong. We'll probably see a correction any day! Poll after poll shows Welling crushing Routh. I wouldn't get too excited if I were a Routhbootist.

Ror- Well, i just take this with a grain of salt cause i'd really be surprised that Snyder would go to "News of the World" of all tabloids, to give them this huge scoop. I mean, if he was that startled by the fans voices, it would be concidered huge news for him to publically state that he would actually concider him for the role on account of the fans' support for Routh's return. What makes that brittish tabloid paper worthy of such a huge news? I'd be gitty if it was true cause i did very much enjoy Routh but i'd hate to be dissapointed again after the whole Brad Pitt as He-Man debacle.

Other than Nolan being announced as the producer, this is the first bit of good news I've heard about this film (if it's even true. I'd say News of the World is like Wikipedia). If it's true, nice one!
