The Flash is a movie that's obviously going to include a lot of cameos, but it doesn't sound like Henry Cavill's Superman will be among them. We know Sasha Calle will debut as Supergirl, of course, but Cavill's version of the Man of Steel looks set to remain M.I.A. from the DC Extended Universe.
Last night, there were rumblings online that the actor might have signed up for a cameo appearance in the 2022 movie, but The Wrap's Umberto Gonzalez was quick to debunk the report.
As you can see, it sounds like Warner Bros. isn't currently lining Cavill up for an appearance in any upcoming DC movies, which is no great surprise when his relationship with the studio seemingly soured around the time talks for a cameo appearance in Shazam! broke down. In 2017, Cavill did say he was under contract for at least one more movie, but that doesn't mean the studio will use him.
Why not? Well, it's clear Warner Bros. is moving on to other iterations of Superman; Michael B. Jordan is expected to bring Val-Zod to HBO Max for a TV series, while a big screen reboot is going to feature a Black actor playing Clark Kent/Kal-El in what sounds like a period piece of some sort.
It's a shame, but between his humiliating experience during those Justice League reshoots and the fact he was replaced by a body double in Shazam!, chances are Cavill is happy to move on.
