The world may not be ready for Superman, but audiences were ready for the new trailer that Warner Brothers released last week. The dust has settled on the trailer unavailing, and while people are excited about the film, I figured I'd put together this list of things that should get you more excited for the movie. Check out the list below and feel free to add things your excited for in the comment section below.
Henry Cavill As Superman
A lot was made out of Zack Snyder casting a British actor as the very all American character of Superman. However, when the first photo of Cavill popped up you can just see this guy was born to play Superman. There were some concerns on how well he could pull of an American accent as well. These concerns were immediately erased for me when I heard Cavill's monologue at the end to the trailer about the World possibly not being ready for him. He has dedicated him self to the role working out tirelessly, and it really shows when he puts on the suit.
Zack Snyder Has Designed Some Great Looking Flying Scenes
One thing that
Superman Returns DID have, was some pretty spectacular flying scenes. It would seem that Zack Snyder has accepted the challenge of making even better ones for Man Of Steel. While we only get a couple of seconds of Superman flying in the trailer, Snyder has used some cool FXs to show not only how graceful he can be while flying, but how powerful he can be as well. The shot of Supes flying around the world is breath taking and had me mesmerized, and I am looking forward to seeing more of it showcased when the movie is released.
Superman Faces A Real Threat
Superman has drawn a lot of criticism over the years for being too powerful. People want to know what exactly it is that could take him down. The trailer showed a shot of Superman falling to the ground with blood coming out of his nose and mouth, which seems to imply that he might not be as powerful as he has been in the past. It wasn't a popular choice at the time, but General Zod is a perfect first villain for Big Blue due to him being able to pose a real threat. The brilliant and talented Michael Shannon was cast as Zod, and while I love Terrence Stamp, I'm looking forward to him putting his own mark on the character.
The Supporting Cast
Snyder has managed to assemble a perfect set of supporting cast members for the almost other wise unknown Cavill. From Russell Crowe to Amy Adams there is no lack of talent in the movie. We were shown just how good Crowe, Clark's biological father Jor-El, and Kevin Costner, his adoptive father Jonathan Kent, are going to be when the first trailer was released. When the second trailer was released we got to see how sweet and loving Diane Lane will be as his adoptive mother Martha. And while we haven't really got to see much of Adams as Lois Lane I have high hopes for her (Even if she doesn't look just like the comic book version). Throw in Lawrence Fishburn, Christopher Meloni, Richard Schiff, as well as how well Dylan Sprayberry played a young Clark in the trailer, and we should be in for a treat.
Superman Will Punch Something
It's the question that has been asked since the film was announced, will Superman punch something? Snyder has not only answered that question with an authoritative yes, he has embraced the concept it head on. Between Supes being knocked into the bank vault, and him flying full speed towards what looks to be Zod it appears there will be not shortage of action in this film. It also suggests that not only will he be fighting, but he will have some knock down drag out fights.
Once again these are just somethings to get you even more excited for the film, even though it probably didn't take much convincing after the trailer. Have something you're excited for that wasn't on my list? Leave it down in the comments section below, and feel free to discuss it among your selves.
