Allison Mac Plans to Leave Smallville

Now we know that Smallville has been renewed, but not all the cast has been signed on yet.

I was intrigued to know that there were actually fans of Smallville that deeply love Chloe and were hoping that she would stay on the show and have a relationship with Oliver and close out the show. Now we know that Smallville has been renewed for a 10th season, but at the moment, there is no word on whether or not Allison Mac will reprise the role of Chloe Sullivan, a character not based from anyone in the comic books, but has been on the show since the very first episode of Smallville.

Last year, Allison made a comment about Smallville, it's future, and her plans to move on with indieWire Blog Network.

Matt: What’s the latest with Smallville? How do you like living in Vancouver?

Mack: The latest with Smallville is that we have another season [after this season’s finale on May 14]. Tom has signed for two more, so the show will go until season 10. I will be completed with my contract next year, and I am looking for new and exciting ways to carry out my character’s exit. I love living in Vancouver, it is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I love the people, the food, the aesthetic, and the life I have built here. It’s wonderful.

So she's said it herself. There has always been a possibility that Chloe will die, but we've been waiting for that for a very long time now. It's been foreshadowed that Chloe could possibly go insane, and Allison even mentioned that it very well could be a connection to her family history of mental illness and Dr. Fate stating that they were alike. Or, Chloe could simply decide to leave Smallville. It would be the least messiest way to tie up her story. No grief. No fuss. Just gone.

It would make sense if either she didn't want to return, or the show didn't want her to.After nine seasons of playing the same role, and very little else, she probably wants to do other things. Also, budget wise, it would be best to not have to deal with her salary.

As one of the most annoying characters on TV, I'm astonished she lasted 9 years on the show.

I would have liked to see the character Chloe change more over the years. But I think Allison deserves a lot of credit for bringing life to her supporting role. Now Chloe's time is up, but maybe she can go out with a bang. Do I hear the word 'sassy' from anyone?

Its not like this article says it a sure thing she is leaving. It just states that her contract runs out thats it. She wouldn't come out and say im not coming back or i am coming back, because that ruins everything. Also the fact is she a fan favorite and in every poll that is taken on this sit e they do not want her to be killed off.

Chloe has been Clark obsessed from the very beginning and has never really let that go. Now she's the sidekick that will do any shady thing she wants to including running off with Doomsday or stealing money from Oliver in the name of "helping Clark." That's a load of crap!

And you cannot say that Allison Mac is a great actress, at least not based on her Smallville work. No one on Smallville does work well enough to qualify them as "great actors" especially since Chloe is an original character. There is a reason why they only win awards for sound at the Emmys. Smallville's acting isn't necessarily bad or anything, but it's not stellar. The best actors were probably Michael Rossembuam and John Glover. Erica Durance is the best Lois Lane that there ever has been. Tom basically made up his own Clark Kent and evolved it how he wanted.

And I'm personally sick of Chloe only speaking in metaphors. Chloe's dialogue is so completely unnatural.

She was cool the first few seasons, but it always irked me that she didn't exist in the comics. Then the whole marrying Jimmy thing just took it over the edge for me. I won't miss her annoying ass if she leaves. Now that Lana's gone, more Lois, less Chloe!

Lol,now way i sound's like that girl-gay-guy or what ever the hell it is lol....

But back to the matter,i don't agree with some of you.
Chloe has been one of the back-bones of smallville, and i believe they should have an happy ending of the show by ending it with her in it. I have been watching the show for years. And i don't really see anything wrong her character, she plays her role well and her expressions are unlike the other characters...

Look at her compare to Lois; since Lois and Clark have been have a relationship in season 9,the show starts going downhill, she does not looks romantic to me, and when she speaks most of the time, she sounds very unnatural. The best part in the show for Lois, is kicking butts and play hard lol.
But she and Clark does not match, i would prefer lana over her, (for crying out load).
But anyway everybody have their likes and dislike but always acknowledge the fact. Chloe is a wonderful character and she has grown on her capability of acting..

At the end of JSA episode the Martian told Chloe that she should beware of a mental breakdown for unknown reasons and if she was not careful, its quite possible that she may end up at Belle Reeve.

go crazy and kill yourself chloe ! although she is a nice character it is a way for clark to take his role a bit more seriously as superman for [frick]'s sake and move on
gorgeousgeeks
gorgeousgeeks - 3/10/2010, 11:22 PM
Exuberance, I don't know how you can like crazy "Trust me Clark! Trust me!" Lana over Lois. I mean, Lana is just worthless. She worked so hard to get super powers and wanted to work with Clark as a team and then she couldn't even find a giant kryptonite bomb on the roof of the Daily Planet. USELESS AS ALWAYS! Honestly! Is it because she's cute? I can be ranting about Lana for an hour with a spread sheet and then a guy would lean over and say "But she she is pretty!" Give me a break!

But if you don't like Erica's Lois, then maybe you just don't like Lois, because Erica is perfect for that role. Season 9 is Smallville's strongest. I don't see how you can say it's going downhill. Clois fans are having a field day and Lois makes Superman strong, especially in the comic books. If Lois dies or is hurt, Superman literally stops.

gorgeousgeeks
gorgeousgeeks - 3/10/2010, 11:28 PM
The writers write in things so she'll have dialogue. Some people act like Clark can't survive without Chloe when she's not even a real character! If she snaps, leaves, or dies, Clark would actually have to do research like a real freaking reporter! Clark would grow leaps and bounds without Chloe there. And if Clark really can't google, Lois can do it. Oliver can use his billions of dollars in resources. They don't need Chloe. Allison Mack is in every episode so they write parts for her. It's as simple as that. Superman doesn't have a sidekick and Chloe never had any business running Watch Tower.
Exuberance
Exuberance - 3/11/2010, 9:47 AM
Well you have made your point "gorgeousgeeks". But too me, Lois is lacking a major skill of appearing soft, when i compared her with the Lois that was in the previous superman, that Lois had a much realer relationship with Clark. And they need to do something about her, sounding like she is reading off a paper. As a matter of fact, due to her appearing more often in smallville as miss lovey dovey i don't see real love,it more of "oh,"just make Clark and Lois have a relationship, because it is coming to a point where we have to link the show base on Clark and Lois. Lois is a good character however,i love her toughness, but moreover the love seen between she and Clark appears utterly fake...

And for Lana, she don't really trust Clark, because Clark had hurt her feelings many times before due to him finding it hard to tell her his secret.

And when she had found out that Clark had powers, also realizing the fact that Clark had saved her many times, she want to be generous by helping others even Clark.

You should watch the first four seasons. They were pretty good.
gorgeousgeeks
gorgeousgeeks - 3/17/2010, 10:31 PM
@Exuberance Okay, Lana is a terrible, terrible person. Period. For example, in the very first season she was seeing a ghost of a childhood friend. Turns out it wasn't really a ghost, but she begged people not to think she was crazy. So Chloe sees a dead person a few seasons later and Lana literally calls the looney bin to take her away. Way to go friendship!

Lana eventually became Clark's stalker. Remember when she became a vampire and wanted to turn Clark so he could be with her forever and he's weak on the floor going "No Lana. No!" And man, when she started college, she was desperate.

Lana is useless. Remember when she came on last season and received super powers? She couldn't find a giant kryptonite bomb on the roof of The Daily Planet. Clark found it within a minute of arriving even though Lana searched "everywhere."

Lana is manipulative. Remember when she threatened one of Lex's employees by threatening the well being of his daughter?

Lana is a murderer. Her first victim was with a pitchfork. Of course it was in self defense, but the next scene with her showed no remorse. That concerned me. Then she became a drug addict and pushed her dealer on an electric saw. There were no repercussions there. She killed her clone and faked her own death. There's no telling how many people died while she was a witch over in China. And if Linda Lake didn't reassemble herself, she'd be dead and it's also a good thing that Cyborg was a Cyborg, because Lana likes hitting people with her car. I know I must be forgetting other victims though...

Anyone who honestly still likes Lana on Smallville from watching all nine seasons seriously has Gatsby syndrome. It's when you're in love with the idea of something so much that you can't see it for what it really is. I know Clark had it really, really bad.

And as far as your opinion on Erica' acting, a lot of people would have to disagree with you there, because I and a lot of other people find her chemistry with Tom great. And Lois doesn't really have much of a sweet side. She's tough and bold and I think that's why Clark, no matter the universe, likes her. If he didn't like that about her, then he would be with Lana. Lord knows she still wants him. And there's a reason why IGN voted Erica best Lois Lane ever. She really deserves it. She's spot on.
