SMALLVILLE Legend Tom Welling Open To Making An Appearance On THE FLASH

While many were hoping Tom Welling would return as Superman in Supergirl, it, unfortunately, didn't materialize. However, it sounds like he may have an idea for an appearance on another series, The Flash!

Following the end of his historic ten-year run as Clark Kent/Superman on Smallville, star Tom Welling took a much-needed extended vacation from television, producing different projects and taking smaller movie roles in the interim, and it wasn't until Lucifer came calling this summer that he even considered returning to the platform that made his career.

Now, despite the fact that Lucifer is technically a DC show, it's not exactly the DC universe that fans have been clamoring to see him join, which would be the Berlantiverse - a universe that Welling's Smallville essentially laid the groundwork for.

With the increasing popularity of The FlashSupergirl, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow, fans have been increasingly vocal about revisiting the world of Smallville and getting a chance to see Welling in all his Superman glory. However, outside of an unsubstantiated rumor about him possibly returning for the second season premiere of Supergirl, Welling has been fairly reluctant to return to the world of superheroes, maintaining that he'd rather preserve Smallville's treasured legacy over returning for some sort of one-off stunt cameo.

While it's still increasingly unlikely that we'll ever see him reprise his fan-favorite role as Clark Kent, it does sound like he may have had a change of heart, at least to some extent, about appearing in one of Berlanti's hit DC TV shows. In a lengthy conversation with Nuke The Fridge, Welling expressed his interest in possibly guest starring on one specific series that has a long-standing history of traveling between different worlds. "I am willing to go on The Flash and I have a few ideas on how it can happen if the network asks me. In fact, I think I can make it happen." Well, that's certainly exciting and considering Barry's knack for traversing the Multiverse, the cameo possibilities are endless.

On another note, check out the reunion between Clark Kent and Lex Luthor as Welling features on Michael Rosenbaum's new podcast:

Make. It. Happen.

Seriously, Flash encountering Smallville-Superman in his prime would be legendary.

It might have gone off the rails in the second half of the series, but Smallville was pretty good for the first five seasons or so. I wouldn't mind having him back for a special multiverse episode.
