Smallville Season 9 Spoilers From Comic-Con

Smallville Season 9 Spoilers From Comic-Con

Having met with the producers and cast of Smallville at Comic-Con, there are a number of tidibts that have emerged which should intrigue fans of the show.

1. No secret now, but Clark is going to be wearing a blackish trenchcoat with a silver "S" logo as he embraces the heroic image that fans of the "red and blue blur" have been placing upon him.

2. According to Justin Hartley (Oliver Queen/Green Arrow), a bit of tension builds between Oliver and Clark over the fact that Clark is leaving his "S" symbol around following a rescue he does. Why, Oliver wants to know, does Clark need the attention?

3. Alison Mack will be directing another episode this season, and Tom Welling, who is now a co-executive producer on the show, will be directing two episodes as well.

4. Callum Blue, who plays Zod, provided some very interesting information. The Zod we meet is an earlier version of the villain from Superman II. This is MAJOR Zod, who has come to earth, with some segment of an army, from Krypton's PAST. He doesn't know who Clark is, has no idea where he is or what is going on. And initially he doesn't have his powers.

5. The notion that Zod has come from Krypton's past raises a number of issues, which no one will confirm or deny, though based on facial reaction, one can assume that Jor-El will indeed be appearing on the show. It also raises issues of whether or not this can impact on the timeline. For instance, can Clark somehow save Krypton? If he does, however, that planet's survival would result in him NOT being sent to earth and ultimately become Superman.

6. It was conceded that the show will play around with the timeline to tell some of the storylines, though it won't be a constant time-shifting adventure ala Lost.

7. Geoff Johns will be writing a Justice Society episode of the show.

8. It seems that teen angst truly is being left behind, the focus turning fully towards the next step in Clark's embracing his ultimate destiny.

In the days to come, we'll be posting some of these interviews. In the meantime, what do you think of the above?

When I read "blackish trench-coat with a silver "S" logo" I kinda get this image in my head.

Geoff John's Legion of Superheros episode was good. I'm anxious to see what he does with the Justice Society.

This is going to upset a lot of people.

But they didn't say he was keeping the trenchcoat, it could be a fake Clark...again

GizmoEl - 7/26/2009, 5:41 PM
The trenchcoat doesn't seem to bad.

Honestly, here's what I think. Right now, Clark is done with trying to act human.. so he's in a pretty dark state right now. I can see him wearing the coat he wore in his final scene in "Doomsday." Something longer than the average jacket, but not a Gambit sized coat. Also, the S on his chest is supposedly blue. At least, that's what I've read. I don't know how he'd be able to go under the "Red/Blue blur" alias if he was wearing Black and Silver. I think it's just a very dark blue.. hopefully theres some red on it.

Un frigen believable. This is horrible. Black trenchcoat? What is he angel now? How will the red blue blurr continue with him in black and silver? Weren't those the colors of that horrible suit he was wearing after he arose from the dead? This is all bullshit. Throwing the S as we would say.

I would be in favor of a Conner Kent style outfit but not a trenchcoat. I guess we will see.

superdog - 7/26/2009, 6:12 PM
Gunsmith@ I'm ok with them not using the true suit yet and having some kind of transition suit. But a black trenchcoat and silver S is ridiculous. If that's the case they should jut stick with the blue shirt and red jacket and have him put on S on his shirt.
WEAPON911
WEAPON911 - 7/26/2009, 6:14 PM
How long can they continue to milk this gasping cash cow? When they put that suit on it's OVER. Smallville becomes Metropolis no matter what they do. No way, without a zorro mask, can Wellington be flying around his old alma mater without someone saying...HEY THAT'S CLARK.....Please, someone shoot this show in the foot, and leave it along side the television highway!

That, my friend Gunsmith, is where the TV blows it every stinkin time! Spiderman, Batman, everyone of them were NEVER up to the par. They can take serious action and villains for movies, WHY CAN'T THEY DO IT FOR THE SMALL SCREEN? MONEY. PLAIN AND SIMPLE. The cost of it is too prohibitive in relation to the sponsors they could sign up. BUT, it would kick high tail to see some form of action in these that doesn't involve a putz in blue jeans.

I agree....MOVE ON SMALLVILLE....move on....
PS - I still think that's Supermike up there.
Supermike
Supermike - 7/26/2009, 6:51 PM
I love these Im not a adult but you superdog and everyone who call me asshole act like two year olds

I think that cute I guess that what happen when little boy are allowed on the computer that don't belong

Oh I agree 100 percent with Soforizo
WEAPON911
WEAPON911 - 7/26/2009, 6:53 PM
UHHH...INCORRECT soforizo, Smallville can't even break the top ten in listings. The fact is, the network is locked in because they can't find any other programs people want to watch..The only thing keeping the show on the air is the overpriced DVD's, even the sponsors are choking on another season. It's simply that they are hoping for a tie-in to some movie deals, and they keep scrambling (bringing in Geoff Johns) to try and come up with ONE episode a year that keeps fans talking...like intro of the weak version of Doomsday...

We just think it's time to introduce Superman and let the series GROW UP. It's like 90210, how long can these kids keep going?
WEAPON911
WEAPON911 - 7/26/2009, 7:01 PM
no, supermike, what happens when little boys are allowed on the computer that shouldn't be is that they end up on Predator tapes. And I am an adult, and I still think you are an A**Hole!

IVE NEVER SEEN A SCUPLTED SUPERMAN SUIT YET, LIKE THE OLD FLASH TV SERIES SUIT, I MEAN THE NEW RETURNS SUIT IS COOL BUT IN THE COMICS, YOU SEE ALL THE LINES AND THE MUSCULATURE WHEREAS THE SUPERMAN SUITS GOING BACK TO GEORGE REEVES TO TODAY ALWAYS JUST GIVE YOU A HINT..MAKE A SUIT LIKE THAT AND IT WOULD PEAK MY INTREST

@Superdog, you're right this is so [frick]ing lame...Y'know I'm so pissed because I thought that the suit that turned out to be a hoax was the one we were gonna see, and that, even though Smallville's last season was a bust, it would be worth hanging in there just to see him FINALLY don the suit...even a VARIATION of it! And now, it turns out that they are merely doing a black trencher?! This look has been beaten TO DEATH!! Most recently by Sabertooth in "Wolverine"! And that isn't even Superman! Superman doesn't wear a damn trench coat! This is such horse crap! After nine damn years, how hard it is to have him put on some kind of supersuit already?! The writers of this show must be the same kind of people that weren't potty trained till grade school!

Tenaciousbt
Tenaciousbt - 7/26/2009, 8:45 PM
Well the news is semi cool. I mean the suit “could” be cool. The description is way too vague to say. We will have to wait and see. As for him leaving a calling card; that is stupid. Superman wouldn't do that.
I love time travel and I think this will set them up nicely to fix things later like, everyone knowing what Clark looks like without glasses, so yeah I like that. Also presenting alternate realities and dimensions where there are more Kryptonians or other suits has been in comics for a long time, so I am cool with Smallville changing some things to make it more interesting, but in the end he needs to wear the traditional suit and be ready to jump to the Big Screen.

what a bunch of pussies hiding behind your computers (rolls eyes) It's just a fkn tv show ABOUT SUPERMAN BEFORE HE BECOMES SUPERMAN. Everything you pussies cry about that is against the "mythos" actually happened in the "mythos" LOL!!!!! & so what the suit rumors where a hoax, the rumors sucked! He's not even at the age to become Superman yet tough guys (rolls eyes again) He just lost another close person (Jimmy) because he's an alien & the person who killed him is from his own planet, so what if he's wearing a black Matrix suit ( that was actually inspired by the Superman character himself, HELLO JOREL ). Big fr'n deal, the show is still ten times better than your precious SR that ONLY a select FEW on the internet actUally enjoyed! (so they say and stickING to it, ROLLS EYES AGAIN)
Tell me, can you Apologists think of anything else to make you look more pathetic? What is it now?........The shield in the comic-con trailer is the same shield as SR, LOL...rolls eyes yet again...keep on reaching.
