Well Checkmate I think was the best episode so far along with Absolute Justice, Chole almost died....lol anyways, we will all see what "Upgrade" has in store for as Brian Austin Green returns as Metallo, Clark on Red K, and Zod be Zod...Oh I think I know who could be the other player with the red chess piece....MAXWELL LORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, That's how Chloe dies this season. Finally!!!! But then again out of her 9 lives how many lives does the girl have left. LOL

@hawkngo i agree that it was definitely one of the two best episodes of the season.

And I never thought about Maxwell Lord being the other "player". Would make sense though.

Still, it could be good old maxie.
I loved the checkmate episode. If they changed mercer for waller as the main badguy they could do so much more with the show. I'm actually thinking that this show is finally reaching it's potential.
All they have to do is kill chloe. Let cyborg upload her soul or brainwaves on a disc (like with jerico in the comics) and make her into the real watchtower. Then give the show another name. Give the justice league members a recurring roll and you've got yourselfs 10 more seasons. I don't care if they call it lois and clark, just give us the DC universe on our telivision screens!!!!!!

I thought Maxwell Lord too as far as the red chess piece, but the way it's supposed to play out is that Maxwell Lord is the Black King (Waller is the White Queen) if I recall correctly. One of the more interesting theories is that the red chess piece is actually the person that J'onn J'onnz is working for, and it is actually Martha Kent.

Yes the CHECKMATE episode was awesome! great story
and action..and GOOD special effects!

the RED chess peice..ummm.The red king symbolizes Lex. Lex is coming back.. do you think that when he cloned Lana he didn't clone himself, as an insurance policy? I think thats he sitting in the sidelines waiting and watching from the inside. Also Lex is the main “bad guy” lex can't die before superman becomes well superman!..I mean what would season 10 be without
the return of LEX!!

but I could be wrong..and it just might symbolize
Maxwell Lord, and his role in all this.

Okay guys... Number one: ISIS isn't up and running anymore. Chloe closed it down when she started Watchtower. Number Two: Chloe will die. Allison Mack has already stated she will not be returning for Season 10.

Maybe ISIS isn't around anymore, but all of that money Chloe stole from Oliver had to go somewhere. It went to Roulette and whoever's aiding and abetting her (e.g. Lana, Dr. Groll/Grohl, etc.). And what happened to all of those meteor freaks they were recruiting.

Chloe told Oliver what she took the money for. Remember that big shed full of Kryptonite weapons??? That's where it went. and Smallville is notorious for leaving loose ends. By now, you should be able to just accept that something happened and they didn't show it on screen. And Lex's return would not be a cop out. The writers have done great with what they had to work with with Michael leaving the show and all. And remember that Oliver killed Lex? And remember that Zatanna owes Oliver a wish? Put it together, you get Lex's return.

I actually love Chloe and I think that Clark saving her was the highlight of the episode. I think she should get to live and hope the finale's teased death isn't about her at all.

I love the character of Chloe too. But what Chloe fans don't realize is that Clark can't embrace his destiny with her being there. This is a show about Clark Kent's journey to becoming Superman. Not Chloe Sullivan. She has played her role in Clark's life. Much like Lana and Jonathan and Martha Kent. Although Martha will be returning for an episode. Chloe is a Smallville created character. She cannot stay with Clark through the whole journey. As much as this is sad and I would love to keep watching her, I realize that in order for Clark to become Superman, she needs to go. I'm not a person who wants her killed off because i hate watching her. I simply know what needs to be done. If one was truly a fan of Smallville and Superman, they would see it too.

Chloe doesn't have to be a part of Clark's life. She could be evil or a reckless vigilante. And this show wouldn't have gone so much downhill if Jonathan Kent hung around longer. They even brought him back as a ghost they were so desperate.

Uh no. In almost every reincarnation of Superman, Jonathan has died when he was young. And bringing him back was not desperate at all. If you payed even the slightest attention to the episode, which I'm gathering you didn't, you would have seen that it was Braniac trying to trick Clark. Which was actually very well written. And Chloe turning Evil would just be stupid. there would be no reason for it.
