The SMALLVILLE - SUPERMAN: MAN OF STEEL conspiracy!

What producer Christopher Nolan doesn't want you to know

Why is the CW (partially owned by Warner Brothers) putting so much hype into the final season of "Smallville?"

Have you noticed the suit?

Did you hear Lois Lane (Erica Durance) use the word "Superman" during the preview at Comic-Con?

I believe Christopher Nolan has secretly been in talks with the folks at the CW/Smallville to do the final season according to Nolan's vision. Why? So he can easily and effectively bring Tom Welling into the film as Superman.

He's already said a T.V Star is beingg cast as Superman and we all know its Tom Welling because they have been trying to nab him

They're hyping up the final season because, y'know, it's the final season. It's all been building up to Clark becoming Superman, so of course they're going to show the suit and people are going to say "Superman" since he's... Superman.

OR...

Jahozafat knows things... I know how to start rumors :)

RoscoeFolgers - 8/1/2010, 12:33 PM
If you want to start a rumor, all the power to ya but I'd pick a better reason. I wouldn't suggest a network advertising the final season of a show that ran for 10 years, of course they're going to advertise their 10th season. Especially since it's hard for a show to make it to five seasons these days, much less 10.

And how else would they end the story of pre-Superman Clark Kent who has already gone to Smallville? With him putting on a Wonder Woman costume?

@Dave: You're right. I expect Padalecki or Cavill.

If they DO choose Welling (which they won't) don't expect a continuation of Smallville. The storylines from Smallville are so far off the the Superman path it's sickening. Therefore...you won't see Welling as Superman on the big screen. People would associate it with Smallville.

All these things would happen regardless if Nolan was involved or if there was a movie in development or not. They're hyping this season up because it's the last one. Simple as that.

He would wear the suit, he would be called Superman, etc. even if there was no movie coming out soon. Because that's what they HAVE to do, or else every single fan who's been watching would call for their heads on a platter.

I'm sure Christopher Nolan hates Smallville.

i wouldn't mind welling for supe. he has the looks but that would mean that man of steel follows smallville's continuity
cmhoughton

Chistopher Nolan isn't involved with Smallville at all.

That's a patently ridiculous contention.

Whether or not Tom Welling is even going to be considered for the role of Superman in Nolan's reboot still remains to be seen.

There is no conspiracy.

In and Interview last week after CC, Tom Welling was asked about playing Supes on the big screen. he said that he was open and up for the idea..yet it wasn't as simple as people think. he them went on to say "all the elements have to come together" straight after this...he changed the subject and looked a little sheepish. Why would he say such a comment and then change the subject quickly? There is something afoot..I can feel it in me bones ;P

Tom Welling won't be Superman!

It has been said since the beginning of the series would end Smallville that Clark would use his uniform at the end of last season, now this is becoming a reality.

If the series ends with the start of next Superman movie will be just coincidence.

I would really love to believe this, but I need actual confirmation from the man (Nolan) first.

Sorry pal, that's not gonna happen. Nolan likes actors.
NERO
NERO - 8/1/2010, 7:46 PM
Not buying it. I cannot see Nolan using any elements actors or themes from Smallville for the simple fact that the man is "Chris Nolan" he is ten times more talented and more creative than anyone ever associated with Smallville. The guy is going to do his own thing because that is what he does. The new Superman, Man of Steel, whatever they call it, is going to be 100% Nolan's take and no one else’s. The guy demands creative freedom on his projects and WB has learned to let him have it. I think if they had said, "Oh, by the way we need you to tie the new Superman Franchise in with this diluted, overstretched, and fading TV show and cast a mediocre actor instead of the more talented actor you'd like to choose to play Superman," I think we could have all heard Nolan's bellowing laughter all the way on this side of the pond before he slammed the phone down on the receiver. Again, just my opinion.

welling wound need to step up his acting chops. he can be good when he tries, but most of the time it seems like he half-asses it.

If The Man of Steel was a continuation of Smallville, then it would piss off a LOT of people. I don't care if you're a Smallville fan or not, you have to admit that the series just slaughters Superman's story.

I mean come on, he's met and fought just about every one of his villains, and he's not even Superman yet? please, thats hardly the Superman movie I would pay to see.
PRMR77
PRMR77 - 8/2/2010, 5:51 AM
Actually I disagree CorndogBurglar, if any thing what Smallville has done has introduced you to these characters and giving you some back ground for them. As for the people you say it would piss off, there will be allot who want noting more than this to happen. I sad it before and I'll say it again Smallville would not have lasted 10 years if it wasn't doing something right. As long a the script is good and with Chris Nolan producing and the possibility of his brother directing, I believe that they can make Tom Welling to be the Superman we all want. Lets face it people were none to please to hear about Christian Bale and look what they did with him. After 10 years Tom Welling is ready to take on this role for the big screen and knows better than anyone what the characters means to the fans. Give him a chance I think he might surprise allot of people.

Yeah I always thought Billy Zane looked like the perfect Lex Luthor. I pray they'll be smart and cast him in the role.

Not that small Teabag there are still fans who will want to see a good Superman movie and it's the Superman/Smallville fans the film is primarily made for. As for big brother, well that was cancelled wasn't it ! The Smallville produces decided to call it a day at the end of season 10 because it's was the natural progression of Clark Kent becoming Superman and they always planned on finishing it there. As for quality over quantity I still say he should be giving the chance, yes some of the stories were a bit cheesy, hit and miss but you get that in any TV show. What they are talking about doing for the movie is a completely different level, going in he knows that I still say he can pull it off with the Nolan brothers behind him.

""He's already said a T.V Star is being cast as Superman and we all know its Tom Welling because they have been trying to nab him""

He did? Where did he say that, and I don't think The Man of Steel movie would have to be a continuation of Smallville, even if Welling was cast as Superman

that Superman Returns suit was awful

base it on the simple suits that Alex Ross draws...

THAT is a Superman suit

@ Deadshot
I agree on the point of not wanting a continuation of Smallville. I do want to see Tom Welling as Superman on the Big Screen though. Oh, and while I don't know if anyone tried to "nab" TW I do know it was reported that he was in talks and was offered the role, but had to turn it down because of conflicts the WB had with Smallville, namely that the show would have to go away, and no one really wanted that at the time.

Also I think the SR suit isn't right. I do like the changes cchriswake13 is going towards. Definately we need to see a bigger S and brighter colors, but I wouldn't be opposed to some changes to update the suit somewhat from the Chrisopher Reeve version.

I changed the pic up top again. Brightened the colors and tried to lower the neck line. Tried..

i personally have no issues with the neck line. looks good man. what i dont like about the cape in some of the cartoon costumes is when you can see his blue suit between his shoulders. hope they never do that on the silver screen.
