Earlier this week, we learned that David Corenswet will play the DCU's Superman, while Rachel Brosnahan has been tapped to bring Lois Lane to life.
They'll debut in 2025's Superman: Legacy, a movie written and directed by DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn. That's expected to set the tone for the new DCU, and Corenswet and Brosnahan are going to take over those roles from Henry Cavill and Amy Adams.
Now, in what can only be described as a shockingly accurate prediction on the part of one fan, a resurfaced Tweet from way back in December 2020 has revealed that they suggested Corenswet and Brosnahan for these roles just shy of three years before it was ever made official!
While Brosnahan is a known talent who has long had the potential to do a character like Lois justice on screen, Corenswet wasn't known to the vast majority a few weeks ago, never mind in 2020. This fan clearly saw something we didn't, though, but to get them both right long before James Gunn was ever even eyed for a new Superman movie...well, it's a little mind-blowing.
The only part they got wrong is the reboot being linked to Matt Reeves' The Batman. Rather than being folded into the DCU, that franchise will be an Elseworlds series and a different actor is going to be cast as this shared world's Caped Crusader in The Brave and the Bold.
The Batman would have been a great way to kick off the DCU, but aside from Reeves' very specific vision for a standalone trilogy, we're guessing Robert Pattinson isn't overly interested in assembling alongside the rest of the Justice League.
"Superman: Legacy tells the story of Superman's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas," reads the movie's synopsis. "He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned."
Superman: Legacy is set to be released in theaters on July 11. 2025.
