SUPERMAN: LEGACY Star David Corenswet Is Spotted Looking Jacked As Update On Shooting Start Date Is Revealed

Superman: Legacy star David Corenswet has been spotted looking jacked as the SAG-AFTRA strike continues, suggesting he's ready to suit up when production begins. We also have an update from James Gunn...

When the news broke that David Corenswet would play the Man of Steel in Superman: Legacy, it took no time at all for some people to dig up old, unflattering photos of the actor in an effort to suggest he simply isn't "swole" enough to play the character.

That's nonsense, of course, as he has plenty of time to train and, despite the strikes, it looks like our future Clark Kent has been doing exactly that.

Some photos shared by JustJared.com show Corenswet looking buff and bearded, prompting many fans to point out how much the 30-year-old looks like former Superman, Henry Cavill.

The WGA strike is over and SAG-AFTRA is now expected to follow. Original plans called for Superman: Legacy to begin shooting next January but, according to Variety, the spring seems more likely. Responding to a fan on Threads, James Gunn also shared an update on where things stand with the movie.

"I couldn’t write [during the WGA strike] but I could direct," he said, "meaning working on designs, storyboards, etc."

As for the rest of the DCU, he added: "I don’t even know where we are with everything, as I haven’t been able to talk with our writers while this has been happening. Although I’m very happy with the outcome, the strike was a real wrench in the process for sure, so I’ll have to see where we are on everything for the next couple weeks. But yeah I’d imagine more news out in the not-too-distant future."

Gunn continuing to work on Superman: Legacy bodes well for it being released as planned a couple of years from now and it surely won't be long until Corenswet starts costume fittings. According to the latest updates, the strike could conclude as soon as next week so those might be right around the corner.

"Superman: Legacy tells the story of Superman's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas," reads the movie's synopsis. "He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned."

David Corenswet is playing the Man of Steel, while Rachel Brosnahan has been tapped to star as Lois Lane. other recent casting additions include Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.

Superman: Legacy is set to be released in theaters on July 11. 2025.

@SauronthePower - Nah...no need for creatine all that's going to do is add water weight....D3,Zinc,Tongkat Ali stack...HGH or TRT.

Correct on all of the food cuts but oil is very much fine and needed...just depends on what type of oil...olive Oil should be in every diet....that or something like avocado oil.

@PlusUltra - He's a little more bulky than early this year...there is zero questions about that...I would not call him "jacked" at this point.However...we're talking about a 6'4 human being here.

@jst5 - I think you may have misinterpreted the tenor of my response 🤷‍♂️ but…no matter. Anyway…for a guy looking to cut ‘softness,’ baby fat, and/or pudge, all oil gotta be out...immediately (read that in Palpatine voice plz). If the goal is to lean-up and cut, oil cannot be there. Pattinson put it all out there when he said he was purposely monitoring water sips during shirtless scenes. If the Creatine goes (assuming for dehydration purposes), the oil goes

@SauronthePower - I am professional trainer...olive oil is very much a good thing to add to you diet anyone telling you otherwise has no idea what they are talking about.Olive oil does not hold in water weight...creatine does....is you're wanting to have a leaner look then stay away from creatine.

I'm 6'5 235pds with very low body fat...that came from years of training ...diet... and playing college football in the early 2000's.As far as diet Olive oil is a very....healthy thing to add to foods...VERY...just make sure it says "cold pressed".

@jst5 - I lost 102 lbs in 7 months. The real way. Treadmill (no incline resistance, sweat through velocity), and severe and calculated diet remediation. Anyone who tells you that ANY type of oil is not a binding agent and counterproductive to forward progress, has no idea what they are talking about.
The oil goes….

Nice!!.

Also while Corenswet does have a striking similarity to Cavill , don’t they both just look like Superman?.

Anyway looking forward to him in the role , no doubt him and Brosnahan will nail it!!.

@TheVisionary25 - I think it's that they both just look like Superman. Like I see similarities between Corenswet and Cavill, but I also see similarities between him and Tom Welling that I don't see with Welling and Cavill. Similarly I see similarities between Welling and Christopher Reeve that I don't see with Welling and Corenswet. Same with Cavill and George Reeves, Cavill and Dean Cain, Routh and Reeve, etc

If the character's type is "White guy with square jaw, blue eyes, black hair and a sensitive face" there's only so many variations before the actors all start meshing.

Personally i'm just happy we finally got a stunner of Lois Lane. Adams is alright, but not since Durance on Smallville has there been one.

He is like Cavill, but without his flaws (height/acting skills). Perfection in my book.

This reminded me that Reynolds and Jackman and anyone else who was in a superhero flick that had to pause shooting has to stay in shape throughout the strikes. Which, is a little funny. Also, Kumail Nanjiani getting jacked for Eternals and then shooting blasts from his fingers, fully dressed.
