Michael Bay's TMNT Reboot Rumored To Kick Off Filming This Autumn, Vanilla Ice Is Involved?!

It's happening, 'Ninja Turtle' helmed by Jonathan Liebesman and produced by Michael Bay are rumored to be contemplating filming locations in Vancouver for a late summer/early fall shoot date.

Following the huge internet uproar known as 'Turtlegate' the key figures behind the new take on TMNT released a few details about the project. What's currently known is that the picture will drop the 'Teenage Mutant' portion of it's title and simply be known as 'Ninja Turtles'. The film is being produced by Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes production company and will be directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath of the Titans) with a screenplay from Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol). The word spreading around Vancouver casting and production companies is that filming may begin fairly soon with a targeted release date of December 2013. It's been confirmed that the 'Turtles' will be CGI this go-around akin to what moviegoers witnessed in Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

What's currently unknown is who will be voicing the beloved reptilian siblings and whether or not ancillary characters, April O'Neil and Casey Jones will join the reboot. Rumors have been abound that everyone from Kid Cudi to Corey Feldman to Donald Glover could be involved with the project in some capacity. One person from the original franchise who would love to return is musician /reality celebrity Vanilla Ice---

If you can't see the video in your country ( you miss out on seeing his calf TMNT tattoo), Ice says, ""I can't say anything," (a tried and true indication that yes, he's involved with the project) Ice grinned when asked if he would be involved with the return of the Turtles. "I know that they're not from the sewers now. They're aliens now or something."

"I don't mess around," he said of his "TMNT" pride. "I'm still a Ninja Turtles fan."

I have to admit though, the little kid in me has a soft spot for "Ninja Rap".

i thought the studio spoke out for bay saying what he said was wrong in that the turtles are not alien but the mutagen is that creates them?

Bay's not the one who would ruin it. He's just a producer. Everything depends on Liebesman and the script writers.

If I had to guess ... this franchise will mostly be based on a young hero or heroine that will be constantly trying to get in the way of the story line. You know ... like what are his or hers parents up to. What kind of romance they are involved in, and how their job / school work is developing.

Sigh ... Clown-shoe.

@ Jesse...I hope that's true...could you post the link to your statement? CGI turtles...in today's world...come on...stop being [frick]ed lazy...Hire the dude from the Men in Black movies to do creature design for the turtles...I'm so [frick]in' tired of CGI...movies need more practical effects...This could only work right if they are done like the creatures from Where the Wild things Are...Please Bay...you have ruined one generation's mainstay by humiliating the Transformers...don't do it to the God damn Turtles!!!...by the way, I'm ok with them taking out the Teenage Mutant...because me and my friends have always called them the 'Ninja Turtles anyway...

He's not gonna be in it, that's just him saying i would. that means nothing. plus I don't know about any one else here, but I like the ninja rap. I know it's stupid but I listened to it so much when I was a little kid that nostalgia gets in my way of hating it.

They probably shouldn't go the live-action route. Actors today have too much dignity to dress up as giant turtles.

Any anticipation I might have had for this movie was destroyed the day Michael Bay became involved. The man is creative poison to filmmaking.

Go ninja, go ninja, go!

I'm still not liking them being from space, assuming he's talking about the turtles and not just the ooze. But I am excited to see them get some more time in the limelight and maybe even make another return to popular culture. Say what one will about the Transformers movies, but now we have more toys for generations to come to enjoy, this also including some nifty shows like Transformers Prime. So maybe the same will come from Ninja Turtles regardless of how the movie does.
