More From William Fichtner On Playing 'Shredder' In TMNT; Confirms NO Bebop & Rocksteady

While talking to The Hollywood News about his new series Crossing Lines, the Lone Ranger actor reveals a bit more about another villainous role he has coming up: iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles baddie, Shredder.

William Fichtner has spoken about his role in the Michael Bay produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot in the past, but was always careful not to reveal too much about this take on 'Shredder'. Now while talking to THN, the actor confirms that this version of the character will indeed go by the name 'Eric Sachs', and we are in for a very different take on the Oroku Saki we all know from the comic and animated series. "What I read about Eric Sachs in the script was great, and then how the character has been molded and changed when we started filming has become something really quite remarkable in terms of what we’ve seen before of the character." Fichtner also comments on the Turtles themselves, saying that they're “some messed up mutant turtles!”. And finally, he confirms to the site that Shredder's two not-so-bright henchmen Bebop and Rocksteady will not be a part of the movie. Are you disappointed by this or was that to be expected?

I really want to like this movie...but it will probably be shit...as for the turtles, I just want to [frick]ing see them already,Bay will probably not even show them in the trailer and will keep then hidden,kinda like what he's doing with the transformers...everyone wants to [frick]ing see the robots not the [frick]ing cars or whatever...Bay producing this shit sucks.

Good to hear that the side kicks will not be in the film. They are not in the original comic. They were made for the 80s/90s tv show. As for the part of Shredder I clearly have not been paying close attention. I like William but as for the Shredder no thanks. The Shedder needs to be Asian. This film has nothing good going for it. I have wanted a PG-13 TMNT film for years it sounds like like might get it just not a good one. So I should have wanted a good one too.

Why they rewrote the script then? They basically take out the best thing of the previous script as Bebop & Rocksteady and Technodrome! No Casey as well. It is feels like peace of shit rewritten to be just another piece of shit.

[frick] everything about this movie. This isnt TMNT... this is a studio with a property changing everything about it to maximize marketing potential and using the brand to sell tickets. Cynical Hollywood at its worst.

We got a perfect Shredder in the nineties. I'm open to a slightly different interpretation, and William Fichtner will turn in a spectacularly villainous performance.

I'm sorry but at the very least Shredder's name is Oroku Saki. He's Japanese. I ain;t sayin' they gotta recreate the 80's cartoon or the original black and white comic frame by frame, but a white guy playing Shredder is just wrong. Oddly I don't have a problem with the fact typically Shredder has been voiced by black males in the cartoons - from James Avery (Uncle Phil) in the 80's/90's to Kevin Michael Richardson today.
