Since it was announced that Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath Of The Titans, Battle LA) would be taking the helm on a rebooted live action outing for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, we haven't heard much else about it. Well now an official release date has been set by Paramount, and those mean, green, fighting machines will be with us Christmas day 2013..

Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies are proud to announce the release of TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLESon December 25, 2013 (wide).

And please note the following updates to Paramount’s release schedule:

ONE SHOT,previously scheduled for February 8, 2013, will now open on December 21, 2012 (wide).

WORLD WAR Z,previously scheduled for December 21, 2012, will now open on June 21, 2013 (wide).

The budget for the movie is also said to be $100 Million. As you can see Paramount have shaken the release dates up on two of their other big movies too. In addition, In Deadline's report they say "Live action-CGI combo" when referencing the TMNT reboot. Now it probably wasn't too much of a stretch to assume that it wouldn't be four guys in rubber suits this time around anyway, but there ya go. Sounds like Raphael, Leonardo, Donatello and Michelangelo will be fully CG.

Awesome, really looking forward to this one. Though Liebesman wouldn't have been my first choice to direct.

@Paaulrom

original director of the 90's film also directed films like coneheads so it is not like we are used to some highly artistic acclaimed director lol

i want to see what the turtles are gonna look like they should just cgi what the turtles looked like from the first 2 90's movies. the third one they looked stupid. but they should have the same voice actors. but i think they're rebooting so that probably won't happen. but i'm psyched about it. all i have to say is TURTLE POWER!!!

If their main goal is to go, "darker" with the series, they need, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Ken Watanabe and Ralph Macchio.

They need MORE MONEY!

100 MILLION$ isn't enough IMO!

I want to see Bebop and Rocksteady, Krang, and The Technadrome, and Shredder.

They need like 200 MIL!

I grew up loving the original cartoon and the live action movies. It's been a long, long time since I've seen any thing Ninja Turtle related, I never bothered to see the CGI film they did a few years ago. Interesting that they're bringing it back, especially in live action.

I still don't see the problem with rubber suits, the old ones didn't look bad at all...

Still, I wouldn't hate it if they went this route ;)

I've always thought CGI is the way to go for this, given how advanced the technology is now. It's not like 15 years ago when it was pretty much guaranteed to look cheesy. Now it looks almost real and can be used to give greater detail to the performance.

Actually it takes place after the third one too:D
If you look at the end you can see the lamp thing that made them go to Feudal Japan in 3.

If they base this film on the damn '80s cartoon I will forver uphold the '90s film as the only faithful adaptation. Paramount has an oppurtunity here to introduce a new audience to the turtles and they should introduce the characters as they were originally created by Eastman and Laird. I don't want another generation thinking that Hamato Yoshi and Splinter are the same person. The '90s film did a great job of blending some more mundane aspects from the cartoon (different colored bandanas and April being a reporter) with actual context from the comics. If they take any more from the cartoon than that, then I'll have none of it. I say lean more towards the comics this time. It would be awesome to see them all with red bandanas.

supersayianfan1 That looks badass. I say motion capture with live action background (like Weta did with Gollum in LotR) is the way to go.

Thedude2936 - It takes place after the third movie. You can see the septer from the third movie in the trophy room with the ooz capsul, and shredders mask.
NewNameWhoDis
NewNameWhoDis - 3/14/2012, 12:43 AM
They're not going to do the all red masks cuz it doesn't differentiate them enough. New audiences will have trouble knowing who is who, regardless of weapon they carry.
