We got word back in 2020 that a big-screen CGI Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot was in the works from Paramount Pictures, Nickelodeon and Seth Rogen's production company Point Grey Pictures. Updates have been few and far between since, but Paramount has now shared an official title logo and some concept art for the animated movie.

While the logo is reminiscent of the original comic book title treatment, those hoping for a slightly more grown-up take on the Heroes in a Half-Shell might be disappointed by these character designs! Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo all look quite similar to their more kid-friendly Nickelodeon counterparts. Rogen has previously said that he intends to emphasize the "teenage" aspects of the Turtles, which seems evident from these images.

The studio has also announced that this feature will be followed by "a series of villain-driven TMNT films exclusively for Paramount+."

While the teen/coming-of-age elements of the Turtles have obviously been explored in previous incarnations, it's never really been the main focus, so this could prove to be an intriguing approach.

The awesome foursome have starred in several features at this stage, with the most recent being the moderately successful (from a financial standpoint, at least) movies from Paramount and Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes. They previously appeared in animated form in Warner Bros.' 2007 adventure, TMNT. Fans still regard the original 1990 film to be the best of the bunch, however.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be directed by Jeff Rowe (The Mitchells vs. the Machines) and written by Brendan O’Brien (Neighbors). No specific release date has bene set, but it's scheduled to hit theaters sometime next year.
