Is Chris Evans The Latest "Loser"?

The latest rumor doing the rounds is that "Fantastic Four" star Chris Evans could be playing the part of Jensen in "The Losers" movie.

According to an anonymous source for Mania.com, Evans is currently in negotiations for the role. If the rumor proves true, the actor would join “Watchmen” star Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who is tagged to lead the title military squad as the “Losers” leader Clay.

The Sylvain White-directed movie already has an impressive squad of actors to take on its story about an estranged Special Forces unit bent on revenge against their C.I.A. commander who abandoned them. Other announced picks include Idris Elba (”The Wire”) as Roque, Zoe Saldana (”Star Trek”) as Aisha and Columbus Short (”Cadillac Records”) as Pooch.

“The Losers,” created by Andy Diggle and Jock as a re-imagined version of DC’s classic Jack Kirby comic of the same same, would beat a couple of its fellow Vertigo titles — “Exterminators” and “Y: The Last Man” — to theaters if it makes its tentative 2010 release date.

I had not read "The Losers" when i heard this movie was in production but i have since picked up a few issues and its pretty good. Not great but like most Vertigo titles its certainly worth a look. Especially if your a blood n bullets action fan. Anyway, hopefully it will make a good movie so we can finally get some more info on "Preacher", and maybe get a "Sandman" movie underway too!

Never read this one myself, but that can be easily remedied. I have yet to read a Vertigo title that I didn't like, so I can only assume that this will turn out to be fantastic as well.

Hes a pretty good actor when he wants to be. Check out a movie called Sunshine. As for FF, well he was cheesy but thats Torch i guess! He actually played the part pretty well i thought, he just had [frick] all else to work with. His one on one scenes with The Thing were the best thing about those movies.

I love Lucifer! (sounds like a good title for a sitcom)..A solo movie would be great id say. But the Vertigo Lucifer already appeared in Constantine..and he was very different from the comics. But hes the devil so i guess hes not limited to any one form! I think Jude Law should play him

Rorschach - agreed! Sunshine is very good and Chris is surprisingly excellent. I loved the slightly odd blend of glossy Hollywood FX and the gritty claustrophobic tone Danny Boyle achieved.

Yeah, never thought about Bettany, he would be a great Lucifer. But my pic for Constantine has always been a blond Clive Owen. I actually really liked the Keanu Reeves version , despite the huge changes they made. He kept the spirit of the character. But i wouldnt mind a reboot/recast either. If they make Sandman he has to cameo!

Why would Lucifer be in a Hellblazer movie? Constantine's antagonist is a being called the First of the Fallen, who is not Lucifer.

I don't really want to see Lucifer or Sandman on the big screen, much as I love the books.

A 100 Bullets movie, though, that would be sweet. If only Lee Marvin was alive.

Anyway, on topic, I must admit that I like String as Roque. Theothers, I can take orleave.

Sothis just leaves Cougar, my favorite loser.

Rorschach01 - I would mock your "Clive Owen for every movie" vendetta if it wasn't so bloody well founded!

Constantine movie was good but his arm tattoos weren't explained. I have to hold my hands up and say I've not read it so it was completely out of the blue when he brought them together! It was easy to follow the basic grasp of the idea but some other people need things spelled out for them in a movie.

Cool!!!! Ive got that SUNSHINE movie on DVD! I ain't seen it yet but i didn't know he was in it, very cool, cheers!! ... What is it??? NIC CAGE & CLIVE OWEN for everything lol??? Oh yeah, an how can you turn CONSTANTINE back into a Brit?? Though i suppose stranger things have happened lol! (An yes i know he's a Brit in the comic). I wish they'd just get SANDMAN and DEATH started already!

Frank im pretty sure the first of the fallen is sposed to be Lucifer. In the early Hellblazer comics Constantine just reffered to him as "Lou"..i havnt been keeping up with current Hellblazer stories so maybe this first of the fallen is a new character..but that is just a biblical name for good ol Scratch.

I do like to cast Owen for a lot of things, but he just fits a lot of parts! Plus theres not really that many Brit actors of his calibre out there at the mo

Cougar is the chap in the cowboy hat that never speaks right? I only read 3 issues!

No. Well... in the early Hellblazer stories, he was supposed to be Lucifer. Only Lucifer left Hell and retired to live in Australia during the events of Sandman. Therefore, for the sake of continuity, the devil in Hellblazer was retconned to be awholly different creature predating mankind, demons and even angels.

The stor arc guys and dolls establishes that when Lucifer fell, the first was already waiting at the bottom.

Also, the two are very differentinapperance and characterization. Lucifer in Blond, sophisticated and charming, while the first is coarseand has dark skin and hair.

I did notice the different appearance in a couple of later issues i have, but i just put it down to artistic license! I just figured Lucifer returned at some point.

Not read the comics but it may or may not interest you to know that according to Angelic Lore it is strongly believed that Lucifer and Satan/the devil are not the same person and is never named as such in the bible. If you get anal (he he) about it you could say the "satan" can be anyone as it is not a title for one person but a word meaning "adversary".

I'm not religious but love Angelic Lore almost as much as comics!
