Is Kenneth Branagh Having Lunch with Thor?

Kenneth Branagh was seen eating dinner at Blairs today, accompanied by a young Blonde actor. Hmm wonder who that could be?

Latino Review broke the story "I had a first hand eyeball witness of Kenneth Branagh eating dinner at Blairs today accompanied by a young Blonde actor who i recognized from HBO's awesome miniseries Generation Kill that was on a year or so ago. I had no idea what his name was but I got home today and Googled him, his name is Alexander Skarsgård. I have no idea if he actually is Thor or not, maybe he's being considered, maybe he and Kenneth are just friends. However, it seems likely he is being considered since he's a young Blonde actor and seems to fit the description of the character. Two other men were with them but I didn't recognize either of them. I know it's speculative at best, even so I thought you'd wanna know.

Could this be the actor we have all been waiting for to swing Thor's hammer? Or is this the actor that will portray Loki? I think he is following more in Loki's footsteps rather then Thor's. The studio has not made any official comment but confirmation should be coming soon due to the production schedule of the film.

So this is that guy a few of the cbm posters were raving about..i do remember him from True Blood..he seemed decent. Although from that pic he does look more like a Loki than a Thor

Have fun trying to find a 6'6, 290lb Nord that can act. You think Branagh is going to take raw size over talent? Personally I think with a bit of bulking up this man has the chops till pull it off. As far as the actor that should play Loki,Neil Jackson gets my vote. Either way I think Thor is one of those comic book movies that will be difficult to pull off, but that doesn't make me any less excited to see them try (hopefully even succeed!).

do u really want some big guy who cant act (see Blade 3) playing Thor or a real actor who can kick ass according to scripte.g. Bale and Downey Jr. Think about it.

I dont think thor is that hard to pull of but I do think they'll have trouble fittin him into the Avengers.

The same thing that's wrong with someone who types with caps lock on. They're both mildly annoying.

...Let me guess, you wanted John Cena to play Tony Stark too? ::Sarcasm::

Triple H. should stick to wrestling. He's good at it. We all can't be triple threats.

Yes, I know Tyler Mane's body of work... He had some great lines in Halloween and X-men(that one scene where he grunted, reminded me of a young Sir Lawrence Olivier). I guess it all comes down to the age old question of style vs. substance. But one could hope for both, couldn't one?

P.S. I like Karl Urban for Conan.

Triple H doesn't even have enough acting chops to play himself if they ever wanted to make a bio of him! It would be called "Triple Penetration H".

He can't play Conan, he can't play Thor, he can't play He-man either if that's where you were going next. He sucks. Wrestling is sure as hell not a acting reference. The only Wrestler to ever achieve "decent" talent is the rock and he's not always good. Oh and before you mention him, Cena can't be Captain America either! Anybody can act "angry", but acting in a movie requires talent to be at least believable. HHH couldn't even pull off the small one liners he had in Blade 3 regardless of whatever was the reason you saw that movie. He sucked and would disgrace Thor.

There are muscular actors available before we ever have to open up the "wrestler" barrel. Kevin McKidd, Brad Pitt, Gerard Buttler, Karl Urban and the list goes on.

Ohhh i get the reason why you are a pro supporter of triple H as thor.....but common men...the caps is unnecessary anyways shaman is spot on....HELL NO to triple H...its a disgusting thought now if they just wanted thor to play a cameo role maybe H could be consdered even then..i'd be mad....as for the guy above i did see him on trublood but he has that evil look nothing like thor...thor has that genuine look going maybe loki like everyone says...and i support whoever said to bring in a great actor....bring in someone and bulk him up plss....no wrestlers...plsss...no offense to wrestlers by the way...dont wanna get beat up..lol

Nice, i don't know much about TNA. I haven't watched wrestling in a long time but i did enjoy TNA when they started out. Was a hell of a lot better than whatever WWE became. Man i miss the WCW days with the wolfpack!!! TNA is as good as it gets now.

But still, i really can't see any wrestler pulling off a leading role, specially not a comic book movie i'm anticipating. To me it would be sacrilege!

Talent should come before size if you want a good movie. Triple H can't act worth squat. If he is Thor, it will probably be a laughable movie. If this guy can bulk up he would probably be a good Thor.
Matowar
Matowar - 3/10/2009, 2:26 PM
LMAO! Shaman you always crack me up. I watch wrestling every monday night without fail. I like Triple H but he cannot play Thor. He has the look, im not saying that but I dont think he could carry a whole movie. Now if they wanted to cast him in a role such as Heimdall who has a much smaller role where he can have one look on his face the whole time great im all for it, but not Thor, sorry. As far as the guy in this article, yes he has the Loki look but if he is Thor then he needs to lift some weights.

I hate to agree with captain caps... but i can actually see Triple H playing Thor. I loved him in blade 3. And i don't think this movie will be to amazing anyway.

he is a good actor from what i saw on true blood but to sell me on him being Thor he is going to need to buff up.

Agreed, Matowar. My concern with having Triple H in even a tertiary role though is that - no matter how much time the gentleman mentioned above, or anyone else spends in the gym - Triple H is going to be bigger than them. And hiring someone for a bit part who makes your primary actors seem less 'heroic' in size, well . . . it seems like a bad idea.
TheKnightspawn
TheKnightspawn - 3/10/2009, 3:18 PM
Wait, how bout this.
Shawn Michaels - Thor
Booker T - Falcon
AJ Styles - Hawkeye/Ronin
Kelly Kelly - Black Widow......

Lemme stop there. Wrestlers only act, when they are "Backstage" or in the "Ring". On a set, they are worse then most of us!

Triple H, would be good as Thor, if he was impressive in Blade: Trinity, and 3 in. taller. But he wasn't an won't be 3 in. taller.

C'mon, do you really want to make a decision based on 10+ years of wrestling, and cameo's in films, to be Thor? Didn't think so.

I personally don't know who will or won't be Thor...I do know, it better be good. That's all.

This is the best news i've heard about this movie since they said Branaugh would be directing. With the kind of dialog this movie will contain can some of you Triple H fans really see him pulling this off???

Do you know anything about Thor??

Alexander Skarsgård is a no-brainer. All he has to do is bulk up! He's got a natural Scandinavian accent, he's 6'4", 32yrs old, he was a child-actor who walked away, then came back 8yrs ago and has been working steadily since, and Branaugh would love him because he's a stage actor as well! Who tops that?

If Triple H had the lead and tried to speak in the Shakespearean way that Thor is prone to speak the movie would come off as ABSOLUTELY RIDICULUOS!!! (<----the correct way to use caps ;)

Seriously if you guys don't know him check out his IMDB...
