Well, with 390 Votes (27.39%) it appears the majority of you are worried, believing that Jenkins simply doesn't have enough experience for a movie like this. Slightly more positive result in second place with 373 of you (26.19%) willing to see what she can deliver. And the most positive option came in third. I'm glad to see the final option with so few votes!.

Here are the results in full..

Say your goodbyes to Thor because she is all set to [frick] it up and please Monster is not some kind of masterpiece. It was an above average movie from a mediocre director.

I didn't know Gusto had 100 other accounts. :P
Anyways, this is definitely an odd choice. But remember, there were doubts about Kenneth Branagh and Joe Johnston when they were hired by Marvel...

Ah, hang on - 726 people said either they were delighted or this was a good choice, only 597 against - so how do you figure that out, Mark?
Personally I think only time will tell - I think its great Marvel thinks out-of-the-box. At least its NOT Joel Schumacher!!

WOW. A sequel to Thor already! I've been off for a while yet I can't believe all this is happening so soon: Thor2, JLmovie, A plan for a reebooted batman movie and so on. Anyway I totally disagree for some freshwoman busting outta nowhere to handle Thor. The first movie didn't really even please me. SSSSHHHHSSHH!!! don't rush it.

MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 10/16/2011, 7:34 AM
I'm sure a lot of the dislike women crown were joking, some were prob genuine misogynists judging by some of the comments on the article announcing Jenkins as director, which is why I added it to the poll.
defenderofthefaith
defenderofthefaith - 10/16/2011, 7:36 AM
She directed Ms. Theron to an academy award. Now she will be directing two other academy award winners. Sir Anthony Hopkins and Natalie Portman. That sounds like a whole lot of talent to me. On top of that she will be using an already made up set design with just a different story. Looks like this movie is in good hands. Maybe some of you are worrying too much for nothing.
defenderofthefaith
defenderofthefaith - 10/16/2011, 7:38 AM
By the way, almost 51% of those who voted either are delighted or think she is a good choice. Over 50% is a good thing.

Why did they change the director anyways? Thor was a fantastic movie!

Oh and just fyi, gay men do not "dislike" women, they just don't have sex with them.

PeterDarker121
PeterDarker121 - 10/16/2011, 7:48 AM
I'm disappointed ovah heah. The movie that arguably led us ALL to these discussions was 'Blade'...directed by WHO you say? Some novice named Steve Norrington whose previous experience was the director of a movie that's on the lips of EVERY American, a sci-fi classic called 'Death Machine'. And the director of the now-classic 'Iron Man' had only a bad movie with P-Diddy and 'Elf' (really? funny, but IM REALLY?) under his belt. Both these guys did RIGHT by Marvel, but their previous experience wasn't the reason we all ran to plop our asses in the theater seats, but they ARE the reasons we still pontificate about their work YEARS after the fact. She's a woman. SO? REALLY?? Read up on her and you might think she can bring some well needed gravitas to a franchise that critic-wise, looks at our beloved genre as 'hit-and-miss' at best. By the way, Norrington was STILL dissed in favor of Leterrier for 'The Incredible Hulk,' so who KNOWS what these guys figger out? Give her a chance, hope for the best, and voice yer opinions based on FACT, not fear. I think this is a BOLD choice (like Branaugh was) and Im more interested in THOR II than ever. Peace

@RorMachine plenty of straight men dislike women but DO have sex with them.
Ichaos
Ichaos - 10/16/2011, 7:54 AM
@Moviemaster probably some loser voted for the "I dislike women" one that has 100 alts up here.

Hmmm my post commenting on her lack of experience with only one movie under her belt and a few tv show seems to
longbowhunter
longbowhunter - 10/16/2011, 7:54 AM
@ Scotticus17 There is some stuff in there I like. The Killing is great and everyone loves Arrested Development. Still I dont think she's right for Thor.

CherryBomb

@scotticus17 doesn't know what she's doing? Charlize Theron got an Oscar because Patty .. "didn't know what she was doing" ?
Ichaos
Ichaos - 10/16/2011, 7:57 AM
... Gone for some eason. Anyway the ones that voted for the first one are 100% fanboys of Marvel Studios. I think I suggested a casting couch in jest, maybe thats why it was censored? It is very bizzare though they would get a director with very little experience and a single full film under her belt. It's far from a normal hollywood decision
Ichaos
Ichaos - 10/16/2011, 7:59 AM
@CherryBomb She may have done an excellent job on that one movie but it is strange someone does a single motion picture and they get the keys to the Kingdom.
PeterDarker121
PeterDarker121 - 10/16/2011, 8:02 AM
@scotticus 17 You prove my point PERFECTLY. You list an entire list of her directorial credits and fail. She "basiclly dosen't know what shes doing.."

..and YOU do? Maybe before YOU direct a comment, take 'spell-check 101.' LOL

u could say the same thing about Joss Whedon most of his work is tv series
PeterDarker121
PeterDarker121 - 10/16/2011, 8:09 AM
@Ichaos ACTUALLY, to this point, MARVEL has done all BUT the "normal Hollywood decision", and CBM's are ALL THE BETTER FOR IT. If you want the Normal Decision, go see a Jen Aniston movie or wait for another Ryan Reynolds/Sandra Bullock 'yuk-it-up'. Make MINE MARVEL.
Ichaos
Ichaos - 10/16/2011, 8:10 AM
@EricMonroe I don't think Branaugh was "bold" choice. Given there is a good number of Shakesperean elements in Thor including in the comic some almost childish versions of shakespearspeak there was a good amout of logic to it. Plus he had a number of films under his belt including various action scenes like in Henry V.

But with Patty sure she has one good film under her belt and she may do well on Thor 2, it's simply the fact there is only one film to judge her by which is hardly enough. And for those that want to bring up it's an issue if the director has XX or XY chromozones get over it (mostly because there is nothing to get over) the same would stand if the director stood or sat while urinating.
