THOR 5: Chris Hemsworth Unsure When He'll Return As God Of Thunder But Wants To Reinvent The Hero

After recently criticising Thor: Love and Thunder, Chris Hemsworth has reiterated his desire to put a fresh spin on the character if and when a fifth instalment of the hero's franchise becomes a reality.

Chris Hemsworth first played the God of Thunder in 2011's Thor and the character has since undergone more than a few evolutions. Whether it's as part of The Avengers franchise or Taika Waititi's colourful take on the hero, this is a character who is typically anything but stale.

Unfortunately, many fans didn't exactly embrace Thor's portrayal in last year's Love and Thunder, and Hemsworth himself recently admitted that it was perhaps too silly. Now, the Extraction 2 star is looking to reinvent the Odinson...again!

"I've got to be careful how I word that because I have no idea what's happening in the next phase," the actor told Entertainment Weekly about a possible return as Thor. "There's always conversations, like with Extraction. Before anything is official, people are throwing around ideas. But officially, I don't know."

"I don't want to continue to do it until people are so exhausted that they roll their eyes when they see me come on the screen as that character," Hemsworth continues. "If an audience wants to see it, and if there's something that we believe is exciting and fun, then great."

"I've loved being able to reinvent that character a few times. I don't have the answer yet, but I would love to try and [figure out] how we can do that again and keep it a little unpredictable."

What that will look like is hard to say. When we last saw Thor, he had adopted Love, Gorr the God Butcher's God-like daughter. Whether that's a plot thread Marvel Studios wants to continue exploring is hard to say, but as she's an original creation, it's tough to predict where a story arc like that could go.

Hemsworth should absolutely continue playing Thor, though, as he's really made the character his own and, as one of the original Avengers, remains a key part of the MCU.

While Thor 5 hasn't been officially announced, we do expect the God of Thunder to return in the next Avengers movies.

Yawn.
Big Yawn.

No Thanks, Chris.

I want a last one, with a more serious tone. Bring back Asgard and end it with Thor as the king he should have been.

@Polaris - Character has already been ruined.

Best you can hope for now is a total reboot.

@TempleRod - Nope. Ragnarok reinveted him and he was great in Infinity War, it can be done again. We've had a bad movie and suddenly all hope it's lost?
Tbh DC had been ruined and even that isn't getting a full reboot.

@Polaris - DC is getting a reboot with a shot of adrenaline,
judging by the new Flash movie and who's directing the next Batman.

It's well earned. We all know Marvel won't reboot. They're too scared and attached to all the crap they've already put out. Sure, it gets views at first, but over time, their viewership will diminish with BAD PRODUCT.

It's already happening. Marvel is dead.
The Flash just proved it.

The Flash, seriously one of the best comic book movies put out the last three or four years.
Maybe tied with The Suicide Squad.

But The Flash really gets it.
It gets Comic Book Movies and how to translate them from the actual comic books. I felt like I was riding a train the whole movie.

Every Batman was handled to the height of superb.
DC is in Good Hands now.

Not like poor Chris and his little Thor. Which Marvel made an absolute joke out of.
No wonder he's speaking out.
