THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER Includes Blink-And-You'll-Miss It Cameo That Makes Two One-Shots Canon - SPOILERS

Thor: Love and Thunder delivers a lot of fun surprises, but there's one cameo that stands out simply because of how easy it is to miss and the way it pays homage to a couple of very popular MCU shorts...

There are a lot of fun cameos in Thor: Love and Thunder, but there's one, in particular, we want to focus on today. It's easy to miss, but an excellent throwback to a couple of "One-Shot" short movies (even if they didn't have that branding) released by Marvel Studios around the time Thor: Ragnarok came out.

"Team Thor," which was directed by Taika Waititi, followed the God of Thunder prior to the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron. The hero was shown deciding to pay a visit to Australia, and while there, he moved in with a guy named Darryl. The God of Thunder was ghosted by his fellow heroes but did meet up briefly with Bruce Banner prior to their reunion on Sakaar.

Later, a "Team Darryl" short followed that revealed Thor's roommate has moved to Los Angeles for work and found someone else to live with: Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster!

We're not sure how the villain came to be on Earth, but the assumption among fans was that these weren't canon to the MCU and probably shouldn't be taken too seriously. Well, if you keep your eyes peeled in Thor: Love and Thunder, you'll notice that Darryl is now a tour guide in New Asgard.

Even if this doesn't make those shorts officially part of the MCU, Daley Pearson's "Darryl The Tour Guide" certainly is!

It's a brilliant Easter Egg, anyway, and one we're sure will go over the heads of many viewers. Thor giving Darryl a job in New Asgard after The Blip is a nice touch, and one that harkens back to Waititi's time in the MCU. We know The Grandmaster's role in Thor: Love and Thunder was cut, but do wonder if he also sought refuge in the Thunder God's home on Earth.

Thor: Love and Thunder is now playing in theaters.

As someone who loves Thor Ragnarok, this movie couldn´t have dissapointed me more. I hate the fact that I was more affected by Peter Quill´s mother´s cancer storyline than Jane [frick]ing Foster´s.

@AndrewHolland - Damn seriously? I haven't seen it yet, but I'm in no real rush to go.

@AndrewHolland - it's a small detail but I think having her lost her hair would have made it more compelling and visually striking rather than a slightly gaunt yet still hot natalie Portman. Also its hard to nail that storyline when you're firing out ten jokes every minute.

@AndrewHolland - something tells me you are critiquing a movie you haven't even seen.

@BeyondtheFuture - I absolutely agree about the hair! As someone who has unfortunately lost loved ones to cancer, I didn´t buy Jane´s gaunt appearance. Her being bald would´ve made all the difference.

@defenderofthefaith - Well that "something" is wrong, cause I definetely watched it.

@AndrewHolland - Not everyone with cancer looses their hair, though just about everyone looses their body weight and looks emancipated as it progresses.

@Dacci - agreed. Jane dealing with cancer was one of the better parts of the story.

@BeyondtheFuture - typical marvel move

@Deklipz - Sure, but 65% of chemo patients lose their hair, so that´s a considerable amount, and also Jane did lose her hair in the comics, so appart from being a more striking image, it wouldve also been comic accurate.

Saw it last night definitely my least favourite Thor film, I had a good time but it falls very short

I liked the movie, there's lots of surprises, especially the ending and post credits scenes. This film will take you on a roller coaster of different emotions, and I like where Thor ended in this. It wasn't where I thought it would go, but I enjoyed it so much.

Lots of laughs in this, especially the cameos, the axe, the GOTG, one liners. It's a good fun movie dealing with serious life issues.

@Timerider84 - agreed, it has some flaws but is a fun time and Bale absolutely gives a magnificent performance.

I see it but it doesn't really matter if you missed it.

The Darryl series was effectively him getting treated badly and used by Thor with the implication he was the Grandmasters slave and that things were so bad that he missed Thor, he was depressed and probably getting assaulted in various ways as the Grandmaster slaughtered his family/friends unintentionally or intentionally as a method of punishing Darryl.

It makes no logical sense for Darryl to be here, especially with them removing Grandmaster from the story. If Gorr had shown up, killed Grandmaster and freed Darryl then that could have been something, but otherwise it's a cameo that kinda misunderstands the entire narrative they had set-up prior. This guy had his life destroyed via association with Thor and the best thing for him would have been to stay away from Thor, but nope, he's here now because Taika just does not care for narrative consistency.

Josh will consider two one shots clearly Made as jokes as cannon material but treat AOS that was clearly Made as in-universe as something that happens in another reality
