It's pretty obvious that Thor: Ragnarok is going to be a superhero movie like no other, but Entertainment Weekly has once again pulled back the curtain on at least some of what we should expect from Taika Waititi's highly anticipated threequel. Following the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Thor apparently returned to Asgard where Loki's leadership has resulted in Hela's escape.
After confronting her, the God of Thunder's blasted to Sakaar, a barbaric planet ruled over by the "charming but nefarious" Grandmaster. It's there he meets Valkyrie, a "hard-drinking warrior" hiding out on the planet who brings the God of Thunder to the planet's ruler. "Thor is a bit of a fanboy for the Valkyrie, the elite women warriors," Chris Hemsworth reveals, while the site goes on to add that it's here the hero loses both his golden locks and trusty hammer, Mjolnir.
As for The Hulk, it turns out that the Jade Giant has undergone some major changes as he's enjoying his time in the arena as Sakaar's most successful and popular fighter. "He’s much more of a character than the green rage machine you’ve seen in the Avengers movies," Mark Ruffalo teases. "He’s got a swagger. He’s like a god." After fighting and putting their differences aside (what, have you never read a comic book before?), the two embark on what sounds like a comedic cosmic road-trip.
As for Doctor Strange's role in Thor: Ragnarok, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige wouldn't reveal much, but he did confirm that the threequel will spend very little time on Midgard. "There’s not a whole lot that takes place on Earth in this film, and that’s one of the things that does."
Finally, the site confirms that this movie will set the stage for Avengers: Infinity War, son this is clear going to be a very important part of Marvel's Phase 3. What do you guys think of these latest details?
