SPOILERS: Here's 'Odin''s Hilariously Bizarre Sounding Role In THOR: RAGNAROK

When we last saw Odin, he was revealed to actually be Loki in disguise, and his fate has remained a mystery since Thor: The Dark World as a result. Well, according to this new report, Anthony Hopkins will be back, but not in the way you might expect. Read on for details...

While a popular theory since the release of Thor: The Dark World has been that Loki killed Odin, most comic book fans know that taking down the King of Asgard isn't actually that easy. Seeing as Loki is currently disguised as his adopted father, chances are that Anthony Hopkins would always reprise the role in Thor: Ragnarok, but Geek.com claims to have learned how he'll factor into the movie. Take this with a pinch of salt, but the site reports that, "Odin has fled Asgard for Midgard, where he wanders the Earth as one of those crazy-looking "the end is nigh" street-corner hobos, warning of the impending apocalypse." That sounds pretty hilarious, and they add that Thor is going to end up encountering his father on Earth at some point (presumably before he and The Hulk embark on that cosmic road trip of theirs). Marvel are obviously still working on Thor: Ragnarok, so this should obviously be taken with a pinch of salt for the time being. It definitely sounds like a fun way to incorporate Odin into the movie anyway! What do you guys think of this?

Is this really the best use of Hopkins talent?

All kidding aside, they could either make this an awesome character arc for Odin, or just have him kind of there as a joke. But I admit, this is a weird use of Hopkin's talent.

Man, hopefully there's more to it.

I'm cool with this. So far they've wasted Anthony Hopkins in these movies, and this sounds like a chance for him to shine (maybe one last time, since the dude is getting up there!).

Whatever state he is found in, Loki will have put him there. If he had Odinforce or his mind, he would reclaim his throne, so that means Loki has screwed him up royally. Maybe he even has no memory of being god.

Depending on how they portray it, it could be interesting or really really lame.

Not lying at all, when I read the title, I predicted the exact description.

What comic book story line is this based off of? It's not? Oh shit sorry. BRILLIANT.

That's not "hilarious", that's really, really sad.

this makes sense and could work well for the storyline.
in the prose edda and norse mythology odin would often disguise himself as a traveler.
it's a nice nod to the source material as well.

nothing really bizarre about it. maybe do some research next time.

In the comics hasnt Odin done this before? I remember reading a book, where Thor found an Asgard item that Odin left on Earth while being a wanderer. Oh well, if they do it I hope it makes sense.

Odin, the king of Asgard, is the comic relief? Double brilliant!

Looks like another Thor movie where instead of getting a Superhero version of Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones... we get action losing all dramatic tension to have forced humour, which won't actually be funny

@Knightrider - In Norse mythology, Odin often wandered around disguised as a ragged old man. This description of his character in Thor: Ragnarok is really not anything out of the ordinary. It's clearly based on his wandering character in the mythology.

As far as Lord of the Rings goes... Odin the wanderer actually served as Tolkien's inspiration when he created the character Gandalf the Grey. So I'm not too sure what to make of the irony in your post.

If they're going the more comedic route then I wouldn't be surprised to see such a thing appear. Though I hope this doesn't happen at all, dumb if true.
