THOR: RAGNAROK: Awesome Shot Of Heimdall Revealed; Idris Elba Says This Is The First THOR Film He Enjoyed

Idris Elba talks here about what separates Thor: Ragnarok from the previous instalments of the franchise and makes it clear he'd like a much larger role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving forward.

Entertainment Weekly recently had the chance to catch up with Idris Elba and they made sure to ask the actor about his experience working on Thor: Ragnarok. With that comes a brand new image of the Luther star as Heimdall and as you can see, he looks seriously impressive as the Asgardian warrior.

It doesn't sound like Heimdall will have a major role in the threequel but that doesn't bother him at all, especially as this was the first time he actually enjoyed working within the Marvel Cinematic Universe! "I like that I have a little part in Thor. I’m neither movie star or day player. It allows me to do other things I love. The last one [Ragnarok] was fun. The others weren’t fun.
They’re work. But on this one, Taika [Waititi, the director] was great." So, what comes next for Heimdall? That remains to be seen.

After all, we don't even know if he'll survive the events of Thor: Ragnarok! Elba, meanwhile, would like to take on a much larger role in this world but admits that Marvel has never suggested one to him.

"I wish I was more present in the Marvel family. I like what I have, but I also wish that I had a bigger character in the Marvel universe. It’s been great, but I kinda think I need a bit more. I want to be a superhero. I like the idea of that." Marvel has missed an opportunity not offering him one and it's unlikely he'd now be cast as another character so perhaps DC Films will come knocking one day...

I wish he had a bigger role in the Dark Tower, as in a successful series.

@RolandD - Exactly! This dude is so freaking arrogant. Instead of earning his way to leading man status, he seems to demand it., Frick him

@Matchesz - I was going to suggest that he be the new Blade. I'd have no problem with him playing both roles.

This dude is the shit. Marvel should definitely either increase Heimdal's role in the MCU or give him another hero to play altogether.

I don't know what to expect from Ragnarok but if it's as good as the first Thor i'll be happy. I frigging love the first one.

"Marvel has missed an opportunity not offering him one"

Did not understand this sentiment at all. He's already Heimdal.
