Entertainment Weekly recently had the chance to catch up with Idris Elba and they made sure to ask the actor about his experience working on Thor: Ragnarok. With that comes a brand new image of the Luther star as Heimdall and as you can see, he looks seriously impressive as the Asgardian warrior.
It doesn't sound like Heimdall will have a major role in the threequel but that doesn't bother him at all, especially as this was the first time he actually enjoyed working within the Marvel Cinematic Universe! "I like that I have a little part in Thor. I’m neither movie star or day player. It allows me to do other things I love. The last one [Ragnarok] was fun. The others weren’t fun. They’re work. But on this one, Taika [Waititi, the director] was great." So, what comes next for Heimdall? That remains to be seen.
After all, we don't even know if he'll survive the events of Thor: Ragnarok! Elba, meanwhile, would like to take on a much larger role in this world but admits that Marvel has never suggested one to him.
"I wish I was more present in the Marvel family. I like what I have, but I also wish that I had a bigger character in the Marvel universe. It’s been great, but I kinda think I need a bit more. I want to be a superhero. I like the idea of that." Marvel has missed an opportunity not offering him one and it's unlikely he'd now be cast as another character so perhaps DC Films will come knocking one day...
