THOR: RAGNAROK Director Taika Waititi Reveals How Korg Was Brought To Life Via Motion Capture

Going into Thor: Ragnarok, most of us were just excited about seeing the God of Thunder come to blows with The Hulk in The Grandmaster's gladiatorial arena and it's fair to say that none of us expected Korg to be the movie's breakout character. Played by director Taika Waititi, he's nothing short of hilarious throughout and stole the show in pretty much each and every single scene he appeared in.

So, how was Korg brought to life? Well, as you can see below, a new photo has surfaced which shows the lengths the actor/director had to go to in order to bring this character to life on the big screen.

If we're lucky, we'll get to see him directing the movie while decked out like this when Thor: Ragnarok is released on DVD and Blu-ray as that's bound to be crammed full of special features. Korg is expected to
return in Avengers: Infinity War and if we do get another Thor movie, here's hoping he gets a big role alongside the titular hero! Are you a fan of Korg? Share your thoughts in the comments section.

You put the guy in a grey leotard, you put dots on his face, you put a helmet on his head with a mini-camera attached, if the character’s freakishly tall you either put the guy on stilts or use a pole to put something above his head that shows how tall he is (hat, cardboard face, etc.), you film him, you let the computer guys work their magic, and BOOM! You’ve created the character.

I just gave you all that information without even reading the article. You’re welcome.

Everybody loved Korg's mo-cap except for his mum and her boyfriend, who he hates.

Just the other day, I got my red t-shirt with this printed on it in the mail.

I'm not much of a novelty t-shirt guy, but this was totally worth it.

I've always been astounded by how directors manage to act in their own films but it must be even harder if you have to be dressed in a grey leotard during a big part of shooting

Enjoyed the movie overall, but Korg was awful. It was a terrible idea to give him that weak voice, and his jokes made me groan. Wanted to leave the theater every time he came onscreen.

The bit at the end about feeling guilty for stepping on his friend had me rolling for some reason.

I appreciate what Taika did with the character, but I was not the biggest fan of his take on Korg.

That being said, I'd like to see him as Korg again in a future MCU film.
